ATHLETICS

Hey Boys of Davis High!  Looking for a spring sport?  Interested in playing boys Volleyball?  Pre-season open gym and conditioning started January 8th at 2:45 in the small gym.  Check out the Davis High Volleyball Facebook page for more information or talk to Ms. Crawford.



Attention new or returning track and field athletes not participating in a DHS Winter sport, you should attend pre-season track workouts, Monday through Thursday at 4:00 pm.   For more information, visit Coach Elliott in L-25.

Wednesday, January 16, get in the lunch line early for Chinese food!  Choices of General Chicken or Sweet and Sour Chicken with fried rice, Vegetable Chow Mein, Hot and Sour Soup, fruit, vegetable and a choice of milk.

Seniors!  It's not too soon to think about Grad Night 2013!  The tickets cover food, drinks and entertainment.  Scholarships are available through school counselors.  This event is an all-night party for graduating DJUSD Seniors! Softball pre-season conditioning: Girls interested in playing DHS softball this spring are invited to come out for conditioning. Reminder: the final NHS Meeting of the quarter is on Monday, January 14th.  Remember that in order to maintain an active membership, you must attend at least two meetings this quarter.



The Spring play is coming up!  There is a mandatory meeting Wednesday, January 16 at 3:00 pm in P-11.  Auditions are Wednesday, January 23 and Thursday, January 24 after school in P-11.  The play addresses racism in Davis and is written by Ben Moroski, a DHS and UCD Graduate.  Everyone who can make the time commitment will be cast.



Want to see what Mr. Slabaugh looks like with no hair?  The DHS Bands are holding their annual Play-A-Thon on January 18 to raise money for the Band program and band trips.  The more money the students raise, the more hair Mr. Slabaugh loses.  Want to contribute to the cause? Find a Band student and pledge to contribute.


An information meeting regarding DHS Girls Soccer for 9th and 10th grade prospective players and parents will be held on Wednesday, January 16th at 7:30 PM in DHS room N-8. The pre-tryout process is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 1st at 4 PM with check-in and conditioning at the DHS soccer field. Reminder:  Unitrans bus passes are sold and distributed at the Finance Office only during the lunch period.  If you are purchasing bus passes, prices are $25 for a monthly pass and $6 for a ten ride ticket.  Checks are made payable to Unitrans.



Come! Get Happy!  Tickets are now available for the DHS Jazz Choir's 25th Annual Cabaret Dinner Show "Get Happy" which will be held on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 at Emerson Junior High School.  The event  features musical numbers by the DHS Jazz Choir and the DHS Jazz Combo and includes a live auction, silent auction, raffle and a delicious meal catered by Cracchiolo's.  Tickets are $20 for students and $40 for adults.  Table seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Join us for a fun evening of song and dance and help to support the DHS Jazz Choir's tour to Los Angeles this spring.  Can't make it to the Cabaret Dinner Show?  Enjoy the music at a special concert Thursday, February 14 at the Brunelle Performance Hall at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors at the door! Attention all artists and creative DHS Students!  The BTRN T-shirt contest starts now until Monday, January 14.  Submit your design to C-4!



DHS Factor is a talent show for all DHS students and staff that will take place on Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 pm in the Richard Brunelle Theatre.  Tickets will go on sale next week during lunch in the Finance Office and online at the DHS Web Store, http://webstores.activenetwork.com/school-software/davis_high_school_on/.

The tickets are $3 with an ASB card and $5 without.


Davis Idol 2013 is coming! Who will walk away with the coveted title of Davis High Idol? If you want your chance to shine in the singing spotlight, applications for contestants are available now in PA-8 and on the ATC website: www.dhstreblechoir.org<http://www.dhstreblechoir.org/>. Applications are currently being accepted   in PA-8!  The first 24 completed applications will be accepted and any additional applicants will be wait-listed. The dates for the preliminary rounds are January 25 and 26, with the exciting, red-carpet finale on February 2. Contestants must be current 10th-12th graders enrolled in any Davis high school.



Acme Theatre Company cordially invites you to the second show of their season: Radium Girls, a story about a group of women in the 1920s fighting for their rights after being poisoned by radium in their workplace.
