The DHS Car Club is for students who have a passion for cars.  The club is open to all DHS students and meets every Tuesday at lunch in the auto classroom O-3.  This year's club t-shirt design contest winner is Sara!  Anyone who would like to order a 2012-13 car club t-shirt should place their order with a car club officer by Tuesday, January 8th.  To pay for your t-shirt, you must bring the total amount to the next car club meeting, Tuesday, January 8 in O-3.  Shirts with the student's name on it are $15.50 each. Without the student's name, t-shirts are $11.50 each.


Lecture Series: If you are interested in the field of Biomedical and Biomedical Engineering, you are invited to join the Healthcare Careers Club on Tuesday, January 8 at lunchtime to hear Dr. Kent Leach present "Tissue Engineering as a Vehicle for Identifying your Career Interests."    If you are interested in a career combining bioengineering with medical research, you should consider tissue engineering.  Researchers in this field work with animal and human cells using techniques common to engineering, medicine and biology to create living tissues.  Dr. Leach works in the UC Davis School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and is Chair of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group.

Come! Get Happy!  Tickets are now available for the DHS Jazz Choir's 25th Annual Cabaret Dinner Show "Get Happy" which will be held on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 at Emerson Junior High School.  The event  features musical numbers by the DHS Jazz Choir and the DHS Jazz Combo and includes a live auction, silent auction, raffle and a delicious meal catered by Cracchiolo's.  Tickets are $20 for students and $40 for adults.  Table seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Ticket order forms are available at www.dhsjazzchoir.org<http://www.dhsjazzchoir.org> and must be received by Monday, February 4.  Join us for a fun evening of song and dance and help to support the DHS Jazz Choir's tour to Los Angeles this spring.  Can't make it to the Carbaret Dinner Show?  Enjoy the music at a special concert Thursday, February 14 at the Brunelle Theatre at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors at the door! Congratulations to the following DHS Orchestra students who were selected to participate in this year's Coda All-State Orchestra: Violists: Ariel, 11th Grade and Eugenea, 11th Grade.  The winning bassists are Ellen, 10th grade and Camila, 10th Grade.   The All-State Orchestra is open by audition to students in grades 9 to 12th across the state.  Our winners will represent the DHS Orchestra Program February 21-24 in Fresno, CA!



Attention all artists and creative DHS Students!  The BTRN T-shirt contest starts now until Monday, January 14.  Submit your design to C-4!



DHS Factor is a talent show for all DHS students and staff that will take place on Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 pm in the Richard Brunelle Theatre.  Tickets will go on sale next week and are $3 with an ASB card and $5 without.

Thinking ahead to a summer job?  The City of Davis is holding a free Job Skills Workshop on Wednesday, January 30 at 4:00 pm in the Veteran's Memorial Center Theatre.  Participants will learn skills for applying and interviewing for any type of job, experience a mock interview, and learn how to make contacts to increase chances of employment.  Come to the Career Center N-17 for more information.



Attention, DHS students who use Unitrans S-Line.  There has been an alteration in the schedule for the S-Line.  Flyers are available in the Front Office detailing the changes in the brochure rack.



Knock, knock!  Who's there?  I want... I want who?  I want YOU to come to Friendship Day!  Turn in your permission slips to go to Friendship Day by January 10 to go to Friendship Day!  Turn them into the blue tray behind the Front Desk in the office.



Acme Theatre Company cordially invites you to the second show of their season: Radium Girls, a story about a group of women in the 1920s fighting for their rights after being poisoned by radium in their workplace. Davis Idol 2013 is coming! Who will walk away with the coveted title of Davis High Idol? If you want your chance to shine in the singing spotlight, applications for contestants are available now in PA-8 and on the ATC website: www.dhstreblechoir.org<http://www.dhstreblechoir.org/>. Applications are currently being accepted  in PA-8!  The first 24 completed applications will be accepted and any additional applicants will be wait-listed. The dates for the preliminary rounds are January 25 and 26, with the exciting, red-carpet finale on February 2. Contestants must be current 10th-12th graders enrolled in any Davis high school.
