Join Philosophy Club in exploring the vast reaches of the human mind! We are meeting today Monday, December 9th during lunch in room P-21, all are invited to the fun during our discoveries on Thomas Hobbes and John Locke as we watch movies and discuss human philosophy through the ages.

It's time for the French Fun Fact of the day. Did you know that the croissant was actually invented in Austria not in France? Come to French Club on Tuesday's during lunch to learn more.

Attention all Fall Sport ILS students:  your graded ILS coursework is now available for pick-up in the office at the front desk.  Please stop by this week and pick it up.
If you want to be the coolest kid in school, you should buy a Davis FFA t-shirt or sweatshirt! They're sold in Ms. Michel's room O-1A!
Attention All DHS Instrumental Soloists- This year's annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition is being held Wednesday, January 15th, 2014 at 7:00pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall. It is open to all DHS instrumentalist. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra at the Mondavi Center in Jackson Hall at the Wennberg Music Festival on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:30pm as well as a check for $300.00.A sign-up sheet and informational flyer will be posted this week by Friday December 6th on the window of the computer lab in PA-3. Deadline to sign up is Wednesday December 18th. Also, you must email Mr. Moreno after you sign up at amoreno at djusd.net. In your email please provide your name, instrument, and the name of your piece.
December 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the iPab (Brunelle Theater) Davis High School. The Winter Jazz Extravaganza offers an engaging evening of jazz in every style, featuring the DHS Jazz Band, the DHS Jazz Choir and three junior high bands.  Donation at door.
December 12, at 7:30n in the iPab (Brunelle Theater) Davis High School The Winter Rhapsody Concert, "Something Old", features new music based on old themes, with the DHS Concert and the DHS Symphonic Bands. This is the big Holiday Season concert for the two DHS bands, and the finale features both of them on the stage at once. Donation at door.
Hey Blue Devils! The Hub is having its first annual kindness Awards, nominate a friend or classmate who you have noted going out of their way to do a kind deed.  Submit names and the actions of the nominees to the folder outside O-1 or to bluedevilhub.com at gmail.com, GO KINDNESS!
The Freedom From Hunger Club is having a club meeting on Tuesday December 10th at lunch in L-21, there will be treats!

Attention all students: Would you like to narrow down a career field that is best suited for your personality and your interests? Or find out what skills you need to advance in the career of your choice? The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is coming soon! If you are interested in participating in this comprehensive survey that gives you a complete outline of the best careers for you - please sign up in the Career Center or with the Testing Coordinator. This is not just for students who plan to enter the military - this can work for anyone. Sign up by 12/20 and we will announce the survey date after Winter Break.
Come participate with Principal Brown, Mr. Peevyhouse, Ms. Moriarty, and others in the Healthy Habits Challenge Game!  Tuesday Dec 10th (starts at 12:00 noon) in S-5 (Ms. Moriarty's room) the question and Answer Game will have two parts: Bell ringers and Team Questions. Find out and show how much you know about healthy living habits! All participants will be entered in a raffle for prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top scoring team- and snacks will be provided for everyone.

Hey awesome Ag kids! The December Greenhand and Chapter Degree Banquet is Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 in the harper MPR, RSVP with Ms. Michel's room in O-1A.

An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec 11 for any students interested in applying to AP ART STUDIO for next year.  Please bring your lunch.
We want you for the executive board! Interested in applying for an ASB elected position for the 2013-2014 school year? Come to C-4 Wednesday December 11th during lunch for an informational meeting.

Are your parents ever asking you what you need from the store? Tell them that DHS is collecting items for the Davis Homeless shelter. Please bring new socks, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and deodorant. There will be a drop off bin for items located in the main office. We will collect items now through December. Check posters around school for more details.

SENIORS: submit your senior yearbook quote now! Log on to School Loop and send a "Loop Mail" to "ybook quotes." Quotes must be less than 20 words, school appropriate and must cite the author.

We are pleased to announce that DSHS has successfully submitted 2014 senior class verified GPA information for Cal Grants. This means students do not need to complete the paper GPA verification form to apply for a Cal Grant.  To be considered for a Cal Grant, students must submit the FAFSA by March 2. Come to the Career Center if you have questions.
Attention Seniors! Tickets for the 2014 Davis Grad Night Celebration are now available for purchase online through the Davis Grad Night website at http://groups.dcn.org/davisgradnight/tickets. Get your tickets now! Prices go up on January 1. Scholarship tickets are also available through school counselors.
Open up those baby books and grab that kindergarten picture. We need it for Grad Night! This is an annual tradition. All kindergarten pictures of graduating seniors are posted at the Grad Night event. All photos (copies are okay) must be submitted by January 1! Send your photo to Sandy Langley, 2026 Klee Place, Davis, CA 95618. Please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like the photo returned.
