1931 - The Empire State Building in New York was dedicated and opened. It was 102 stories tall and was the tallest building in the world at the time.

On May 3, celebrate SENIOR Night for DHS Boys Lacrosse as the Blue Devils take on Granite Bay during the last home game of the season.  The Varsity at 7:30 pm, JV at 5:30.  Come support the team and celebrate our graduating  Seniors!

TODAY: Are you are a sophomore or junior willing to devote your time towards helping your peers improve their performance in English and world language courses? If so, then please join the Language Tutor Club for the month before semester finals.  There will be an informational meeting today, Wednesday, May 1 in Ms. Floyd's room, N-2 .

Come to the Quad at lunch and watch Momentum Dance Club perform an African skirt dance.

NEW:  This week the National Science League Exams are being offered, and students that score well win certificates or medals, and automatically become a part of the 2013 Team in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.  The tests take 35 minutes, and are 40 multiple choice questions each.  Biology exams are offered in S-5 Tuesday or Wednesday at lunch.  Chemistry is offered in S-8 Wednesday at lunch, and Physics is offered in S-12 Thursday at lunch, and you can take Biology, Chemistry, or Physics Friday at lunch in S-8.

There will be a mandatory player/parent football meeting for players interested in playing football for the Frosh, JV and Varsity Football teams in 2013.  The meeting will be on Thursday, May 2 in the DHSH Library.  New Frosh players arrive at 6:30, returning JV and Varsity players arrive at 7:00 pm.  At least one parent must attend with their player.  All new eligibility and physical forms as well as player responsibilities, significant events and football information will be given out at that time.

Listen up Senior and Junior girls!  Do you want to play in this year's Powderpuff Football Game?  Well now is the chance!  Applications are available today in C-4 and are due May 10th at an informational meeting during lunch.

Do you want to help make DHS a better place for all?  Come to Room L-23 during lunch this Friday to learn about LinkCrew, a new transition program for next school year!

ONGOING/UPCOMING: If you are a girl who is interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, you should attend the "STEM Careers for Girls" presentation on Thursday, May 2 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:15 pm in the Blanchard Room at the Davis Yolo County Library.  Panelists will discuss careers for girls in Engineering, Animal Science, Technology, Biology and Ecology.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The Teen Health Awareness Club is creating a DHS " Healthy Eating" recipe book of favorite healthy snacks and meals that DHS students like to eat.  We are offering $5 Jamba Juice cards to the first 20 people that submit their favorite healthy recipe/s to us; please send your submissions either to our DHSTHAC facebook page or to our email at DHSTHAC at gmail.com<mailto:DHSTHAC at gmail.com>.  Please include: 1) Your favorite healthy recipe/s and category of food-i.e. main dish, appetizer, or dessert, 2) The serving size with the approximate caloric intake, % fat (saturated or unsaturated), and why you think this recipe is "healthy".  3) Please provide your full name and contact information.

If you play guitar, bass, drums or piano, you can join a band and jam with other musicians with the City of Davis Summer Rock Band Camp.  The deadline to sign up is May 10, so come to the Career Center soon to pick up an application.

If you are a senior, and an active lifetime member of CSF, you are eligible to apply for a scholarship.  Pick up an application from Mrs. O'Brien in P-13.  Deadline to submit application is this Friday May 3.

Join the party bus to Senior Ball!  A limited number of seats are available for $25 per person to transport you to the Sherton and back.  Bus contracts can be found in C-4, on the Student Government Events page or on the Senior Ball Events Page.

The Dedication Ceremony for The Steve Larsen Bike Plaza will be held this Friday, May 3 at 12:00 noon.  The new bike plaza is located between the Stadium entry gates and the North Gym.  Steve Larsen was raised in Davis, graduated from DHS is considered to be the Davis' greatest ever all-around cyclist.  He has competed in World Championships in different categories of road, mountain bike, track, cycle-cross and triathlon.  Steve Larsen was also a professional triathlete and a national mountain bike champion. There will be artwork 'The Spirit Rider' will be dedicated in the plaza as well.  Please join us for this dedication ceremony on Friday, May 3 at lunch.  Refreshments will be served.

Also, on Friday, the day of the Steve Larson dedication ceremony, be sure to bike to school!   If you do, you will receive a ticket for free Noah's Bagels, Yoloberry Pink Berry and many other giveaways in the quad!

Please nominate a teacher you think is most deserving of the honor of Rotarian Teacher of the Year for the 2012-13 School Year.  The criteria for consideration are listed below as is the nomination form available in the front office. Please return the form with an attached description of your nominee to Kate Prien, Site Secretary, no later than noon on Friday, May 10, 2013.

The Devil Day Car Show returns Wednesday, May 29, hosted by the DHS Car Club.  Cool cars and trucks will be on display all day in the quad with judging at lunch and a people's choice award you can vote on.  There are cool prizes for the winners including a car show t-shirt, free oil change or car care gift basket.  If you or someone you know wants to enter, the applications are in the main office or the Auto Shop Room, O-3.  Applications are due May 15.  Hope to see you there!

Summer School - Classes will be available for students who need to make up credits.  Pick up a summer school application in the Counseling Office.
