Sports Physical Paperwork Nights: October 23 & 24: 6-8pm in the North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork and receive your athletic clearance card to present to your Winter coach on the first day of tryouts.

For all those Seniors out there, the first Gryffindor House Float Building Meeting will be at lunch today, Friday in L-23. 50 points will be awarded to the House that makes the best float, so don't miss out on this opportunity to help Gryffindor win the house cup! All ideas are welcome!
COLLEGE VISIT TODAY: UC San Diego will visit our school today, September 21 at 10:00 am in the IPAB theater. Sign up on Naviance to attend this visit, or come to the Career Center to sign up.
-The Gay Straight Alliance meets today at lunch in Mr. Wheeler's class, L-28 upstairs above the library. This is an opportunity for LGBTQ and straight students to support each other, provide a safe place to socialize and to see who eats the crusts on their sandwiches!

-Picture Retake: Picture retake will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Library West Conference Room. You must bring your unwanted picture packet that you received in order to take your new pictures. All new students that took pictures in the Library, please come and take your picture on October 2 so that you will be in the Yearbook.
-Latinos Unidos will be on the quad on Monday, September 24. Come by and say 'Hola!' Regular meetings will be on Mondays at lunch in Room O-5.
Monday, September 24, is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the October 2012 DHS PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>. Please include your name and a parent or faculty name and contact information (e-mail address and phone number) in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission. Also, please be sure to include a teacher or parent contact and his/her phone number or e-mail address. The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have Internet access or not. The newsletter is generally available around the 1st of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
-Seniors! You must take an official Senior Portrait in order to be featured in the yearbook! You do not have to buy a package, but you must take a photo. -Have a knack for science trivia? Enjoy a competitive environment? Come join the brand-new DHS Science Bowl Team! Come join the brand-new DHS Science Bowl Team. We meet every Monday at lunch at Mr. Raymond's room, S-11. See you then!
-Students who will be voting in the November election: be an informed voter - please come learn about the five candidates for the local school board. -Calling all thespians! ACME Theatre Company invites all 9th-12th grade students to audition for their upcoming productions of "In A Grove" (in the fall) and "Radium Girls" (in the winter). Auditions for both shows are September 26, 28 and 29 and callbacks are the 29th and 30th. -Are you interested in diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations agenda? Join the Model United Nations Club! There will be a lunchtime meeting on Monday, September 24 in P-25. Members have the option to attend conferences during the school year, where they will research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. Model United Nations is a fun and educational experience. See you on Monday in P-25!
-Davis Senior High School is seeking a parent to serve on the School Site Council for the 2012-2013 school year. The School Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and meets at Davis Senior High School on the third Thursday of each month at 3:00. - The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of northern California universities! The Stanford University tour is scheduled for this Saturday, September 22 and seats are still available. Additional tours are scheduled for Chico State on September 29, and UC Berkeley on October 6. Trips are $65 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch. -Do you like helping others and want the chance to make a difference in your community? Sign up for the National Honor Society outside room S-12 this week or next. Just bring your official second semester transcript from last year with a GPA of 3.4 or higher, $5. and your enthusiasm! Hope to see you soon!
-Are you interested in being a Walker Creek Cabin Leader? If so, cabin leaders are needed for Montgomery Elementary School. Please come to the Career Center for an application.
-College visits are in progress! Come to the Career Center or go on Naviance for the date and time of each college visit. Students must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit and must check in with their teacher before leaving class to attend a visit. If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center or see your counselor.
