TODAY

-For Lunch today we have Pork Afritada (stew), Chicken Adobo, Mediterranean Bean Feast.  Breakfast is served daily at the DHS Snack Bar at Nutrition Break prices as follows: $2.00 full price, .30 cents for Reduced and Free is free.



-The Guitar Club meets today, Thursday at 12:15 in Room P-22.  Bring a guitar and let's jam!



-Please sing this to the tune of "Baby Got Back") I like my friends and I cannot lie, you other brothers cannot deny, when those facilitators walk in, with invites in their hands, you get ...HAPPY!  So turn in your permission slips to go to Friendship Day by September 13 THURSDAY and you can get happy too!



-CSU Application Presentation will be made today, Thursday, September 13, 2012 in the Brunelle Theatre from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.  Seniors and parents are invited to attend this presentation made by the Admissions and Outreach office from Sacramento State University.  The application process will be highlighted and there will be an opportunity for questions.  We look forward to seeing you there.



-Do you want to learn new dance moves and show off your own?   Want to be part of the freestyle performances in the quad?  Come to the Freestyle Club in the dance room at lunch on Thursdays to express yourself through dance, beat box and more!



NEW

-The DHS Site Council is looking for a student to join our committee.  The Site Council consists of Principal Moore, staff, parents and students.  The Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement, supports new programs and determines how grant money will be spent.  If you would like to help shape the future of our school, please pick up an application from Vice principal McHale in the office now and by no later than noon on Monday, September 17.  Applications are due Tuesday, September 18.  This opportunity is open to all students.


-School pictures are here!  Lifetouch pictures taken at school registration can be picked up in the Career Center, which is located in the portable trailer behind the theater.   Please encourage your student to come to the Career Center to pick up their pictures.


-Do you like helping others and want the chance to make a difference in your community?  Sign up for the National Honor Society outside room S-12 this week or next.  Just bring your official second semester transcript from last year with a GPA of 3.4 or higher, $5. and your enthusiasm!  Hope to see you soon!



-Would you like to help people all around the world.  Then join the UNICEF Club this Friday at lunch in P-20 to learn about volunteer opportunities and fun events.  There will be food!

-Are you interested in being a Walker Creek Cabin Leader?  If so, cabin leaders are needed for Patwin and Pioneer Elementary Schools.  Please come to the Career Center for an application.



-College visits begin this week!  Come to the Career Center or go on Naviance for the date and time of each college visit.  Students must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit and must check in with their teacher before leaving class to attend a visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center or see your counselor.



-CSF Registration has begun!  Please come to Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13 during lunch.   Please bring your pink CSF Membership Application form, $5.00, your Spring 2012 grade report which you got in the mail and the completed hour sheet.  We look forward to seeing you!



-Latinos Unidos will be meeting every Tuesday at lunch in O-5.  There will be food and fun activities.  Everyone is welcome and applications to become a Latinos Unidos officer will be accepted and due on September 18.



-You are invited to join Cultural Exchange Club meetings are every Friday in Mr. William's room, P-14.  Come if you are interested in participating in exchange programs with our sister cities.



-Attention Students:  Student MUST check out through the Attendance office before leaving campus (signed green pass will be issued and must check in when he/she returns.



-Calling all dancers!  The Davis High School Jazz Choir is seeking contestants for "Everybody Dance Now!," the choirs third annual dance competition to be held Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 in the DHS Brunelle Theatre.  Grand prize of $150 will be awarded by a panel of three judges and $75 will be awarded by audience vote.  Applications and a $10 application fee are due at 3:00 pm, September 14 at the DHS office or to Mr. Zinn.  Proceeds will help fund the DHS Jazz Choir activities.  All dances styles are welcome! -The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of four northern California universities!   The first tour is San Francisco State University on September 15.  Additional tours are scheduled for Stanford, Chico State and Berkeley.  Trips are $65 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch.  Come to the Career Center in N-17 for more information.


-If your student would like to visit a college during a school day, it is important that you submit a note to the Attendance Office in advance of the absence requesting that the absence be excused.  College visits may be excused per administrator's discretion.  Please included in the note, the name of the student, the date of the visit and the name of the college.
