THIS DAY IN HISTORY

1968 - The rules committee of Major League Baseball (MLB)<http://www.on-this-day.com/sports> announced that in 1969 the pitcher's mound would be lowered from 15 to 10 inches. This was done in order to "get more batting action."



ATHLETICS

The Third Annual Davis High Boys Lacrosse Swap Meet will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Holmes Junior High School MPR!  Buy, sell, swap or donate new and used Lacrosse equipment and Gear.  Donations are happily accepted at the Swap and will help to support the Davis High Boys Lacrosse Teams!



LUNCH CHOICE:   Pizza or Pasta Day:  Veggie, Pepperoni, or Cheese Pizza or whole wheat Pasta with garlic and walnut pesto sauce, marinara or vegetables and beans.

There will be a Model United Nations Club meeting today, Monday, December 3rd in P-25. This will be an informational meeting about position papers, so make sure you attend if you're interested in participating in conferences.



The Chinese Club is taking a yearbook photo on Tuesday, December 4 in T-3 at the beginning of lunch.  Please be sure to wear red for the photo and if you want to purchase a t-shirt, bring $12!  Don't be late!


Have you wondered what it's like to be an Emergency Room doctor?  If so, the Healthcare Career Club invites you to attend a presentation by a Sutter Davis Hospital Emergency Room Physician, who will discuss exciting careers in healthcare.  The presentation will take place in the Career Center on Tuesday, December 4 at lunch.  See you there!

Reminder - Participation in student activities is a privilege, is encouraged, and plays an important part in insuring that students have a well-rounded high school experience. Please don't earn a spot on the No Activities List by failing to follow DHS rules and expectations for behavior and attendance. Placement on the NAL would prevent you from participating in fun activities such as break-the record night, the black-light dance, and even playing on an athletic team. Follow guidelines that are designed to help you be successful.  Don't go NAL!!



If you have a loved one serving in the military overseas, Student Government wants to send them a care package to say thank you for their service.  Please turn in their APO addresses to Mr. Morgan in C-4.


We are pleased to announce that DSHS has successfully submitted 2013 senior class verified GPA information for Cal Grants . This means students do not need to complete the paper GPA verification form to apply for a Cal Grant.  To be considered for a Cal Grant, students must submit the FAFSA by March 2.  Come to the Career Center if you have questions.


Do you have awesome talents?  Here's your chance to show it off with the DHS Factor!  Applications are due Friday, December 7th in C-4 to students and staff!

Anyone considering AP Art Studio for next year should come to an informational meeting in A-1 on Friday, December 14th at the beginning of lunch.



Calling all dodge ball players! Applications to start your own dodge ball intra-mural team are available today in C-4.  Turn completed applications into C-4 by December 14!


Attention All DHS Instrumental Soloists - This year's annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition is being held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall.  It is open to all DHS instrumentalists.  The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra at the Mondavi Center in Jackson Hall at the Wennberg Music  Festival on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 3:00 pm as well as a check for $300!  A sign-up sheet and informational flyer will be on the window of the computer lab in PA-3.  Deadline to sign up is December 21st.   Also, you must email Mr. Moreno after you sign up at amoreno at djusd.net<mailto:amoreno at djusd.net>.  In your email, please provide your name, instrument and the name of your piece.
