ATHLETICS
-Girls JV/Varsity Basketball vs. Grant - South Gym, 5:30-JV-7:00V

-DHS Women's Soccer Team Tryouts Information Meeting for 9th and 10th Grade students   regarding the tryout process for the DHS 2012 Women's JV Soccer Team for 9th and 10th grade prospective players will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, January 11th at 7:30 PM in the DHS Library. Parents are welcome to attend. A separate meeting for 11th and 12th grade prospective varsity players will be held on a later date to be announced. Conditioning for 9th and 10th grade prospective players will begin on February 1. -There will be a mandatory football meeting for all student athletes interested in playing football for DSHS next year.  Players and parents are to report to the DSHS Library tonight Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00 pm for newcomers and 7:30 for returning players and parents.

-Interested in joining the DHS Track and Field Team?  Hardworking student athletes for pole vaulting, jumping, throwing, hurdling, sprinting and distance running are wanted.  Please report to a mandatory informational meeting for parents on Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 pm in the DHS Library.  We will discuss rules, expectations, answer questions and distribute paperwork.  Conditioning will take place Monday through Thursday at 4:00 on the DHS track.  This is open to new and returning athletes with no prior experience necessary. -Interested in playing Lacrosse?  It's not too late. For tryouts, there are no fees to register and just three easy steps to get started.
1-Go to: http://www.davislacrosse.org/ and on the left side, click on the tab. 'Register Online'.
2-From the Online Registration System screen, you must scroll down to 'DHS Blue Devils Lacrosse'.
3-Select 'Begin Registration'. DHS athletes are not required to become US LAX members.

-The DHS Climate Committee will meet this Wednesday at 2:45 in the West Classroom of the library.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

-Hey Key Clubbers!  Our next general meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at lunch in S-12.  We will be discussing our very important upcoming officer elections so please plan to attend.  Food will be provided.  See you there!


-Attention, Blue Devils!  Do you ever have problems you want advice on but don't know who to ask?  Ask a DHS Peer Helper!  Just fill out a slip of paper with your question and put in any Advice Column box located in the library and office.  Then go to the Advice Column website URL listed on the side of the Advice box to check for your answer!  Everything is completely anonymous so please feel free to ask for help!

-The DHS Jazz Choir proudly presents its 24th Annual Cabaret dinner show featuring music from the Jazz Choir and Jazz Combo on Saturday, February 11 at 6:00 pm and Sunday, February  12 at 5 pm.  There will be pre-show music by the Jazz Band on Sunday and a special "Music Only" concert on February 16. -Hey Blue Devils! Are you interested in a career in healthcare?  Please join the Healthcare Career Club.  There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 11 at lunchtime in Room S-2.

-Need help with Naviance?  Come to the Career Center for help accessing your Naviance account.  Naviance is an easy-to-use web resource with a wealth of information for college and career planning!

-Computers are available for student use in the Career Center in N-17 to research colleges, apply for scholarships and jobs, explore college and career opportunities on the internet.

-There will be a DHS Student Forum meeting in L-22 at lunch on Wednesday, January 11.  Pizza is provided! Please come and teachers, please tell your class representatives to attend!

-"Break Da Record Night" t-shirt designs are being accepted through January 25 in C-4.  Submit a design for a short-sleeved white t-shirt with your name and design and you may be chosen to appear on the limited-edition t-shirts!

-Today is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the January 2012 DHS PTA newsletter.  Please send news items and announcements to the DHS PTA Media list serve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>.  Please include your name, parent or teacher name with contact information such as phone/email address.  This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.


- CAML #4 will be held on today during lunch in any math classroom.   Many math teachers are offering some form of credit for getting CAML questions correct.  Ask your math teacher about this problem-solving activity!


-RECYCLE REMINDER: The Green Recycle Bins are for Paper and Plastic ONLY! Cardboard Recycle is located in the Dumpster Area!
