- The DHS Car Club will having a meeting this Friday, February 17th, at lunch in O-3 to discuss the following topics: attending the SkillsUSA State Conference in April, selecting a Car Club member to serve on the AP/CTE Info Night panel next Thursday, and the next steps towards ordering the Car Club t-shirts. All are welcome.

-Attention Blue Devils looking for volunteer experiences or have interest in a career in healthcare!  The DHS Healthcare Careers Club is putting on a presentation on volunteering in hospitals today Friday, February 17 in S-2 at lunch!

REMINDER!!!  Applicants to AP Art studio for 2012-13 must turn in their portfolios DUE tomorrow, Friday, February 17 to any art teacher!

-Hey Students!  The end for Progress Quarter 3 is coming up!  Stop by the Academic Center if you need help with homework, essays or projects!

-The AVID Application is now available to all students in the Counseling Office and Room O-4.  AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  We set goals for high school graduation and college entrance.  AVID classes enjoy rigorous academic inquiry and focused fun collaboration.  We also provide college field trips and teach effective practices to raise your GPA.  Talk to your counselor or Mr. Curley NOW - applications are due February 27th!

-Holiday Reminder: Monday February 20 is a holiday in honor of Presidents' Day!

-Important Reminder to all Staff and Students:  The deadline for submission of items for the Daily Bulletin is 11:00 am the day before you need your item to be announced.  Items are to be run for 3 days only.  Thank you for your cooperation!

-Students are invited to attend the Career Technical Education (CTE)/AP Night on February 21 (Tuesday) at 7:00 pm in the IPAB.  Teachers will discuss CTE certificates, internships, and what makes AP courses rigorous.  A student panel will discuss experiences in CTE and AP courses.  If you are considering signing up for a CTE or AP course, this program will benefit you.

-Have you always dreamed of performing on stage?  Love to sing? Come and audition for one of the amazing DHS choirs.  Audition forms for ATC, Jazz Choir and the Madrigals are available.   All Orchestra audition forms are found in the music room PA-3 along with a sign-up sheet for times.

-Hey DHS! Hungry?  Come to the DHS Pasta Feed February 21 at the Holmes Jr. High MPR.  Buy your tickets ahead of time in C-4 for $8 or from a student government member.  Tickets will be $10. at the door.  Come for a fun night of pasta, salad, bread and entertainment and support the Student Leadership Conference trip!  Everyone is welcome!

-The DHS Healthcare Careers Club is hosting a visit by Carrington College, a private technical college in Sacramento that focuses in medical careers.  If you're interested in medicine, come to the Career Center at lunch on Tuesday, February 21 to speak to a Carrington College admissions representative.  All students are welcome!

-JUNIORS: If you ARE interested in pursuing a career in the energy resources industry, there is a free summer camp July 15-20 hosted by Chevron and the USC School of Engineering.  The program will introduce high school juniors to career opportunities in fields such as fossil fuels, solar, biofuel, wind, nuclear energy, and information technologies. Come to the Career Center N-17 for more information.

-Attention CSF'ers!  Registration for 2012 Spring Semester has begun, from now until next Friday, February 24.  Come to Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13 during lunch with your completed pink application, your transcript (not printed from Zangle!), your completed hour sheet with 20 hours and 1 CSF project and $5.  See you there!

-Do you love Dance Team?  Do you need your car washed?  Come out to the Dance Team's car wash on Saturday, February 18 at the East Nugget Market from 12-4:-00 to support!
-The EAP will be held before school on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.  Information will be arriving home shortly.  The deadline to sign up will be Friday, March 2nd.


SENIORS:  March 2 is the deadline to apply for FAFSA and Cal Grants.  Don't miss out on getting free money for college!  If you have any questions about either of these programs, come to the Career Center N-17 THIS WEEK!

-Reminder - Participation in student activities is a privilege, is encouraged, and plays an important part in insuring that students have a well-rounded high school experience. Please don't earn a spot on the No Activities List by failing to follow DHS rules and expectations for behavior and attendance. Placement on the NAL would prevent you from participating in fun activities such as break-the record night, the black-light dance, and even playing on an athletic team. Follow guidelines that are designed to help you be successful.  Don't go NAL!!

-Still deciding where to go after high school?   Up for a fun trip with friends?    The City of Davis is sponsoring the SoCal Safari for a tour of 6 Southern California Universities including UCLA and UCSB.  The trip runs from April 9 - April 12 and the cost is $490.00. -Cold and flu season health tips:  If you have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, stay home until you are 24 hours fever-free.  Remember to wash your hands with warm water, use hand sanitizer and cover your coughs with your elbows.  Let's stay well, Blue Devils!
