ATHLETICS

-All boys interested in playing Volleyball this season, meet in the weight room today at 4pm for the tryout schedule for the next 2 weeks.  Thanks!

-Spring Sports Reminder: If you are planning on trying out for a Spring sport, a sports physical packet must be completed and signed prior to the first day of tryouts , today. Fully completed packets may be dropped off at the DHS front desk or at the Athletics office prior to tryouts.

-It's not too late to join the 2012 DHS Track and Field Team. We are looking for hard-working athletes: grades nine through twelve, all event groups, no prior track and field experience necessary. Our first official practice is today at 3:50pm at the DHS Track.  We will take new members through the first week of practice but not afterwards.  If you are interested, now is the time!

TODAY
-For Lunch today we have Ginger Beef over local rice, Popcorn Chicken and mashed potatoes and corn, BBQ Sandwich, and the soup is Tomato with Cheezy bread stix

--There will be a Davis UNICEF club meeting today, February 6th in L-23.  We will be discussing this year's Tap project and food will be provided! Together we can change the world!

-If you would like to participate in an internship in China this summer, come to the Career Center today , February 6 at lunch to learn more about spending your summer in China!

-Attention Juniors!  Interested in a career in law enforcement?  You are invited to apply to the FBI's Teen Academy.  The one-day Academy will be held at the offices of the Sacramento FBI on March 2 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm.  The deadline to apply is today, February 6.  Come to the Career Center for an application.

-Hey CSFers!  It's time to take the CSF yearbook photo.   Meet this Friday, Feb 10 on the north side of the new gym.  Wear a WHITE shirt!  Also, your report cards will be arriving any day!  Please remember to save it for CSF Registration which begins on Valentine's Day, Feb 14 at lunch in P-13.


-Are you interested in attending college in a western state other than California, but can't afford the out-of-state tuition?  If so, come to the Career Center at lunch on Wednesday, February 8 to learn about the Western Undergraduate Exchange organization.  You may be eligible for a reduced tuition rate at one of the participating schools in the West!

-Wazzup smiling rain drops?  If you are going to Friendship Day, Friday February 10th, please turn in your permission slips to the Front Desk by Thursday, February 9th.  See you there!

-This week is Spirit Week for the 'Break the Record Night' Black Light Dance February 10th after the Varsity Basketball game.  Support our team by dressing up on Snow Day Monday, Twin Day Tuesday,- ER Day Wednesday, Wear Blue Thursday and White Out Friday!  Remember to come and cheer our team at the game!

-Attention, all Blue Devils:  As a reminder for all events such as dances and athletic occasions, you are expected to always:

  *   Treat everyone with respect and expect the same from your friends
  *   Be a good sport.  Be gracious in victory and accept defeat with dignity.
  *   Do not engage in disrespectful conduct such as profanity, obscene remarks, trash-talking, taunting or any action demeaning others or the sport.
  *   Treat game officials and all school staff with respect.  Do not complain or argue about decisions or calls during a game.
  *   Student ID Cards must always be shown at games and dances and will be checked at the door.


Consequences of improper behavior will result in ID confiscation and warning on first offence, you will be asked to leave for a second offense during a dance/game and major infractions will result in being asked to leave immediately. Any failure to respond appropriately to an adult request may result in other school consequences such as suspension.
Let's show our Blue Devil Pride in our school and our community as well as to our rivals!    Let us Pursue Victory with Honor at Davis Senior High School!
-Attention ALL students:  CAHSEE will be administered to all 10th graders Tuesday and Wednesday,
February 7 and February 8th.  There will also be a make-up for 11/12th graders who are missing on or both portions.  The revised schedule went home to everyone last month.  Your teachers will post the room assignments in their classrooms and you can find that information in the Admin Building as well.   10th graders: go directly to your assigned testing room no later than 7:45 am on Tuesday (even if you do not have a 1st period) and 8:55 am on Wednesday.  DO NOT BE LATE.  Please see the testing coordinator if you have any questions.

*SCHEDULE CHANGE: Students, please NOTE that for CAHSEE Testing: Tuesday, February 7 will be a Thursday Schedule, Wednesday, February 8 will be regular schedule, and Thursday, February 9 will be a Tuesday schedule. *
Monday, February 6 is a regular schedule day
Tuesday, February 7 is a Thursday block schedule, 7:45 - 2:30.  10th graders testing Periods 1, 3 & 5 7:45-12:10 approx.
Wednesday, February 8 is a regular block schedule with 10th graders testing 2nd and 6th period, 8:55-12:10 approx.
Thursday, February 9 is a regular schedule
Friday, February 10 is a regular schedule

-Attention Clubs!  Please check your email so you can schedule your yearbook photo.  If you do not reply with the next few days, your spot will be given to another club.  See Mrs. Thomsen in C-3 for more information.

-Did you know that 1 in 3 homeless people are under the age of 18?  The Teens for Jeans Program would like to collect your slightly-used jeans in your 4th period classes.  The winning class gets an awesome prize and the winning school gets $5000.!  Best of all, teens in need get jeans!  Donations end February 11.

  -Attention Seniors!  Please remember to turn in your kindergarten photo for Grad Night.  Please submit a picture no larger than 2x3 to the front desk!  Join your fellow graduates in a walk down Memory Lane!

-Sophomore and Juniors: Would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer?  The UC Davis Young Scholars Program is offering opportunities in biology and the natural sciences for high achieving high school students.  Applications are due March 31. Come to the Career Center for more information.
