-Attention: Juniors! The PSAT October 15!  Sign-up at lunch today through October 7 in the large conference room.  The tests will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 7:45 to 11:30 am.  The cost is $24.00 and you must bring your student ID.  10th graders may sign up on Friday only.  If the fee is a hardship, please see your counselor as soon as possible to arrange for a fee waiver.  This is available on a first-come, first-serve basis only.

-Speech and Debate team will meet today after school in P-23.

-Are you good with languages? Do you think you are qualified to tutor your peers in French, Spanish, German, Japanese, or Chinese? Then come to the Language Tutors Club meeting today in N-15. New tutors welcome! Applications are available in N-15.

-Hey there, Blue Devils! If you aren't listening to these announcements, you may be missing your chance at fame! If you want to have a chance to become known, come to the very first meeting of the DHS Filmmaking today at lunch in A-7. We'll accept anyone interested in any part of filmmaking or acting. Remember, every star starts somewhere, why not here?

-Interested in going to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom this month? Come to the Key Club meeting today at lunch in S-12!

- There is a critical parent meeting for parents of players who want to try out for a DHS Men's Basketball Team on tonight from 7:00-7:30 at Davis High School Room A-5.  Players do not need to attend unless a parent is unable to attend.  It is mandatory to have paperwork turned in prior to tryouts.  The meeting room is adjacent to the Veterans Memorial Center parking lot.  The purpose of the meeting is to receive and turn in mandatory paperwork for tryouts.  Tryouts will begin November 7.  Please refer to the website www.davishighhoops.com.

-CSF meets Friday, October 7 at lunch in P-13. This is the first meeting of the year. Remember, you need two meetings per semester in order to be an active member.

-Seniors - your senior quotes for yearbook are due Monday, October 10. Drop them off in boxes located in the front office or library. You can also Facebook message them to Aggie Tang or Emma Phillips.

-Attention students:  The Academic Center offers free tutoring in all academic subjects.  UC Davis tutors are available to help you with homework, essays and projects.  Stop by room M-2 for more info.

-Hey all Mu Alpha Theta members! It's time to pay your membership fees. Come to N-5 Thursday, October 6 at lunch and bring $10. Hope to see you there!

-Davis High School Snowboard Team:   There is still time to get some information about the DHS Snowboard team for any interested students. The snowboard team is a co-ed team for 9-12th graders who have at least some snowboarding experience. We are a race team, but get coaching in free-style riding, board cross and the terrain park if interested. Come have some fun this winter and improve your snowboarding skills tremendously in 1 season, and make some new friends. -Attention:  DHS Student Leaders of clubs, booster groups, ASB!  Monday, October 10, is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the October 2011 DHS PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media listserv at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org. Please include your name and a parent or faculty name and contact information (e-mail address and phone number) in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission. Also, please be sure to include a teacher or parent contact and his/her phone number or e-mail address. The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have Internet access or not. The newsletter is generally available around the 15th of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
