- 1850 Magellan reaches the Pacific -After sailing through the dangerous straits below South America, Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan enters the Pacific Ocean with three ships, becoming the first European explorer to reach the Pacific from the Atlantic.

ATHLETICS
COLLEGE VISITS - Prior to attending the college visit, students must go to their class and check in with their teachers. Only students who have pre-registered in Naviance will be able to attend the college visit. Only 11th/12th graders may attend a college visit.

-For Lunch: Today we have Teriyaki Chicken with Farm Fresh Vegetables over Organic Rice. Also, Sweet and Sour Meatballs over Local Organic Rice, and Freshly Baked Chicken with Corn on the Cob.

-Did you know thousands of children in Uganda are forced to become soldiers? If you want to help stop this, come to the Invisible Children's Club every other Monday in room L-29 above the library. There will be food.

-Did you know you can save someone's life in less time than it takes to watch a movie? It's true. Giving blood takes about an hour. Your donation is used to help people who need it urgently. The first Davis High School Blood Drive of the year is scheduled for this Friday, Dec 2nd. Giving blood is safe and easy. To donate blood, you must be at least 16 years old (with a parent consent form), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours. Sign up in the Quad during lunch this week. For more information, please see Mrs. Youtsey in the Nurse's office.

-CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive- Would you like to help make a hospitalized child or a disadvantaged child Happy?
Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to the DHS Front office Toy Drive Barrel today thru December 16th. Toys will be delivered to the children just before the holidays.

-DHS Car Club meeting- Tomorrow Tuesday Nov 29 in the auto shop room, O-3 at lunch.

- Come to the DHS Movie Night tomorrow night Tuesday, November 29th. The movie "Yes Man" will be shown in
Mr. Reilly's room P-10 at 6:00pm. See you there!

-Junior Prom is Dec 10th.  You can pick-up dance contracts in Room C-4. Guests are required to fill out a guest pass.

-Dixon Rugby Football Club invites Davis Boys and Girls to a rugby mini-camp Saturday and Sunday December 10-11,
8:30am -3:00pm in Dixon.  For registration and information, go to www.dixonrugby.com.

-Seniors:  Show all your fellow classmates how cute you were as a kindergartner! Bring in a wallet sized (2x3) photo for the Kindergarten Wall at Grad Night. Drop box is located at the DHS Front Desk.

- If you would like to have your club or group photo featured in the Yearbook, you must fill out a form. Go to dhsyearbook.wordpress.com to download the form. For more information, come to room A-7 during 5th period or to room C-3 to see Mrs. Thomsen.
