REMINDER
1. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Volunteer Program at Camp Putah is now accepting applications from teens entering grades 8-11. Volunteers assist staff members throughout the week in all camp activities. Volunteers gain experience in leadership and teamwork skills, child management and day camp operation procedures. Being a Camp Putah volunteer is a fun and memorable way to spend your summer! Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for more information.

1. JUNIORS: Would you like to participate in an all-expense paid leadership camp this summer? Camp Royal, funded and run by our local Rotary Club, is a premier leadership-training opportunity for high school juniors. The program, held each June in the mountains of northern California, is a concentrated, energy packed week of information, ideas and strategies that will help the camper return to his/her school a more effective leader. This year, Camp Royal will be held from June 12-18. The deadline to apply is April 15. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for an application.
2. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Would you like to experience state government in action? The LegiSchool Project's Real World Civics Summer Internship Program, sponsored by Sacramento State University, is for juniors or seniors interested in learning about state government and political life in the State Capitol. Students will spend the summer working in either the State Senate or Assembly and in an executive branch agency with a Capital Fellow mentor. The internship runs from June 20-July 15. 3. COLLEGE VISIT: If you are interested in majoring in business, education, engineering or biology/pre-medicine you should consider Grove City College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A representative from Grove City College will be here to answer your questions on Monday, April 11 at lunch in the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office.
4. Did you know you can save someone's life in less time than it takes to watch a movie? It's true. Giving blood takes about an hour. Your donation is used to help people who need it urgently. The second Davis High School Blood Drive of the year is scheduled for Friday, April 15. Giving blood is safe and easy. To donate blood, you must be at least 16 years old (with a parent consent form), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours. For more information, please see Mrs. Youtsey in the Nurse's Office.

1. Cafeteria: Meatloaf and mashed potatoes and corn on the cob, pizza, sandwich, cheeseburger with sweet potato fries.
2. There's still time to join the award winning HUB for next year!! Applications for photographer, graphic designer, web-master and business manager are now outside L-20. They are due this Friday.
3. SENIORS: TODAY is the deadline to submit applications for many local scholarships. Scholarships due TODAY include the Standard Application for Local Scholarships, Yolo Masonic Lodge, PTA, California School Employees Association, Armstrong Family Education, Kiwanis Club, Novozymes, and many more. Bring your completed applications to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office TODAY BY 4:00 p.m.!
4. Attention all math and science tutors!! We will be having a club meeting this Friday at lunch in S-9.
5. DHS Orchestra audition times are now posted in your music room. Please locate your audition time by Friday so you can organize your schedule ahead of time. Remember auditions take place right after spring break so get to work! When you are checking on your audition time, please make sure and pick up a registration form, fill it out, and turn it in to me the day of your audition. 1. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Student volunteers are needed to help at UC Davis' annual Picnic Day on April 16. Volunteers will help with animal events, entertainment venues, children's fair, information booths and more! Volunteers who work at least two hours will receive a free Picnic Day volunteer t-shirt and food! Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for more information.
2. DHS CHEERLEADING TRY-OUTS-The Davis High School Cheerleading team invites tumblers, dancers and students with school spirit to try out for the award-winning squad. Students entering 9th-12th grade in the fall are eligible to try out. A mandatory Cheer Information Night for prospective cheerleaders and a parent is at 6:30 p.m. on April 19 in room N-8 at DHS. A tryout-clinic runs April 25-28 in the DHS Dance Room. The clinic runs 4-7 on Monday and 4-6 on Tuesday-Thursday. Tryouts are at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, in the Dance Room. Prospective cheerleaders are invited to work on their skills at the team's open gym from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in April in the DHS Dance Room. The cheer coaches will be offering corrections and feedback, as well as providing assistance with tumbling and stunting. Participants must complete and bring with them a DHS Sports Participation Form they can download off the DHS Cheer website at www.dhscheer.org<http://www.dhscheer.org>.
