GRADUATION INFORMATION

Graduation Rehearsal:

  *   Reminder that mandatory graduation rehearsal begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 10th at Halden Field at the Ron & Mary Brown Stadium. Report to the field and find your chair.
  *   Rehearsal will continue until all graduates are prepared for the evening's festivities.
  *   Leave all cell phones, electronics, water bottles, etc. and personal belongings at home.
  *   Water will be provided for all graduates.
  *   Dress for the weather!

Commencement:

  *   Grads must report to the North Gym by 6:15 p.m. to line-up.  The processional will begin at 7:15 p.m.  The actual ceremony starts at 7:30pm.
  *   Remember that you should not bring anything with you to the ceremony.  Cell phones, electronic devices, water bottles, or any other items etc. are not allowed.
  *   Water will be provided for all graduates.
  *   DSHS does not allow any balloons or other items that might block visibility on the field or in the stadium at graduation.
  *   Please do not alter or decorate your cap or gown in any way.
  *   Appropriate footwear must be worn.  Thin heels that damage the surface of the field or shoes that are unsafe will need to be changed before the ceremony begins.

We expect your behavior to be dignified at the ceremony. This is a celebration for you, your friends, and your family.

TODAY

1. Cafeteria: Chicken or veggie chow mein with fried rice, sushi with fresh melon, pizza, sandwich, BBQ cheeseburger with fries.

2. Please have your locker emptied and your lock's removed no later than 10:00am on Wednesday, June 8th. After 10:00am locks will be cut off and belonging's removed.

3. All Physical Education students need to have their PE lockers cleaned out by the end of the school day on Wednesday, June 8th. After that, all locks will be cut and clothes donated.

SENIOR REMINDERS

1. SENIORS: Davis Grad Night will be this Friday, June 10, from 9:30pm to 5am. You can buy tickets at the door for $110 (make checks payable to Davis Grad Night). Scholarships are available--see your counselor. If you are eligible for a scholarship and buying your ticket at the door, be sure to bring your voucher. Grad Night will be held at Emerson Junior High. Students are admitted from 9:30 PM to midnight. Bring a photo ID. Dress casually because there are indoor and outdoor activities. If it's cold, wear long sleeves or bring a jacket. If you leave before 4 AM, your parents will receive a courtesy call letting them know.

2. Seniors received information in their 4th period classes regarding an opportunity to request additional graduation tickets. The request form follows. Once we have received all of the ticket requests, we will do our best to accommodate you. If you have any questions, please contact Dennis Foster at 757-5400 x111 or Tom McHale at 757-5400 x113.

3. SENIORS: Did you miss Senior Awards Night? If your name is on the list outside the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office, you may have a certificate waiting for you! Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office to pick up your certificate and a Senior Awards Night program!

4. SENIORS: If you still need cap, gown and tassel please come to front office to give your name and height. We will give this information to Jostens and you will be able to pick them up after Graduation practice on Friday, June 10th. The cost is $50 and they will only be accepting CASH!!!

5. SENIORS: Don't forget to fill out a PERMANENT ADDRESS CARD if you haven't already. Turn in completed cards into the Front Desk. Extra cards are available at the Counseling Office or the Front Desk.

6. Seniors: Pay all owed lunch fees with cash or check to the Kitchen before June 9th or your diploma may be withheld.

7. SENIORS: Don't forget to request your FINAL TRANSCRIPT to be sent to the college you will be attending. Bring in a stamped addressed envelope to the Transcript Counter and follow the posted instructions. If your common application college is requesting submission of a final report- you will need to make a request at the transcript counter. Stamped addressed envelope is not needed.

NEW

1. All Summer School Classes will be conducted at Holmes Jr. High School beginning June 20.

2. Girls entering grades 9-12 if you missed the DHS Field Hockey meeting and are still interested in trying out for the team, please contact the Varsity Coach Sandie Marotti-Huckins at: sandie at themarottigroup.com<mailto:sandie at themarottigroup.com> by June 15th.

3. Sophomores and juniors, do you love to dance? Then start practicing over the summer for the Jazz Choir's 2nd annual dance competition on Oct. 1st! You can compete solo or with a friend to win cash prizes, any style of dance is fine. More information will be available when school begins in August.

4. Attention: Juniors' who have enrolled in the Advancement Placement English course for their senior year, please check out the suggested summer reading list posted on the doors of classroom L-15 and P-22.


CONTINUED

1. Attention Runners and Jumpers of all ages! Davis Senior High's Freedom from Hunger Club is hosting an all-comer track meet on Saturday, June 18th. This track meet will take place at the Ron and Mary Brown stadium with the first event beginning at 9:00 and registration beginning at 8:00. In addition, this event will offer games and entertainment for the whole family. Track and Field events include a 5k or 3200m, 1600m, 800m, sprints, hurdles, pole vault, high jump, triple jump, long jump, and more. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Freedom from Hunger Organization which brings innovative and sustainable self-help solutions to the fight against chronic hunger and poverty. 2. Are you done with your SAT, ACT, and AP exam prep books?? Bring them to the office or library for donation between now and the last day of school for a chance to win a cool prize.
