Dwight Clark makes The Catch
On January 10, 1982, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dwight Clark makes a leaping catch in the end zone on a pass from quarterback Joe Montana with 51 seconds left in the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game against the Dallas Cowboys. "The Catch" set up a successful extra point kick by Ray Wersching that lifted the 49ers to a 28-27 victory and a trip to Super Bowl XVI.

REMINDER

1. "NO LATE START" on Wednesday, January 12th, there will not be a Collaboration Day. Periods 1, 2, 4 and 6 will meet starting at 7:45 on Wednesday.

NEW

1. Attention Seniors! If you would like your name to be anything other than your full name on your senior portrait and want to make any corrections or changes to the way your name is spelled, please report to A-7 or Sam Elmo or Hannah Stombler-Levine. It would be greatly appreciated. Love, Yearbook!
2. The DHS Climate Committee will meet this Wednesday at 2:45 in the Library West conference classroom. Please join us.


3. Attention all seniors: Are you interested in attending a community college?! Come to the community college workshop next Wednesday, January 12th during lunch in the Old Gym. If you have any questions about this, please see your counselor!


4. Need extra credit for your math class? Then CAML Test #4 will be at lunch in any math room on Tuesday, January 11. Ask you math teacher about extra-credit possibilities.

5. All Spring Semester Independent Lifetime Sports students are to meet on the first day of the second semester, Tuesday, January 25th in the old gym during 7th period. We will be meeting for the entire period. Any questions please see your assigned teacher immediately.

6. All first semester Independent lifetime sports students are to meet at lunch in the NEW GYM instead of the old gym.  Trokanski's class will still meet in the dance room.

7. There will be a mandatory parent meeting for Boys lacrosse. New information will be presented. We will meet on January 12th at 7:00 pm at the North Davis Elementary, Multi-purpose room at 555 East 14th St. ALL FORMS must be turned in and SEASON FEES will be collected. Both Parents and Players must attend. Please contact Lydia if you have any questions.

8. DHS Girls Swim Team Parent and Athlete Meeting will be held on January 19th at 7:00pm in DHS room A-3. This will be an informational meeting for girls in grades 9-12 who are interested in swimming on the DHS Girls Swim Team.

9. Dodgeball captains please make sure to turn in your teams' permission slips by next Tuesday. Also, we will be opening the old gym at lunch for the next 2 weeks to warm up for dodgeball season.

1. Cafeteria: Chili Cheese nachos, fish sandwich, mandarin chicken over rice, pizza and grilled cheese and tomato soup.

2. Its 2011 guys! Come help us make a difference in more peoples lives this year. Come to Davis UNICEF Club on Monday at lunch in L-23. See you there!

3. Join other music lovers on Monday, January 10th at lunch in the choir room PA-08 for a performance by the Willamette University Jazz Choir! Please eat beforehand as there is NO food allowed in the performing arts building.

1. "Step into the Spotlight"! Davis Senior High School's Advanced Treble Choir presents "Davis Idol". All performances at the Brunelle Theater beginning at 7pm. Preliminary nights: Friday, January 21 and Saturday, January 22, presale tickets $6 and at the door $8. Final night Saturday, January 29, presale tickets $10 and at the door $12. Presale for all 3 nights only $20!
Tickets will be available on the quad on January 19th and January 20th. Tickets are also available at Watermelon Music or contact an ATC member.

2. Boys in grades 9-12 interested in the DHS Boys Golf team: An informational meeting for new and returning players and their parents will be held on January 11th at 7:00 pm at DHS in room N-5. Anyone interested in trying out that misses the meeting must contact Coach Ronning, by email at kronning at djusd.k12.ca.us<mailto:kronning at djusd.k12.ca.us> BEFORE February 4th

3. There will be an informational meeting for all 9th thru 12th grade girls interested in trying out for the DHS varsity and 'junior varsity soccer teams, and who have questions about the tryout process. The meeting will be on Wednesday, January 12th, at 7:00 in Room N-8 at DHS. Workouts will begin on Feb. 1 for 9th and 10th graders with conditioning. 11th and 12th graders will report on Feb.7. Times for all days are 4:00, at DHS Yudin Field. Players should bring water, soccer shoes, shin guards, and running shoes, as well as the completed athletic participation forms. Students who filed a Physician's Certification Form for 2010 fall or winter sports do not need to bring a new form but should bring their blue sports emergency card. Forms can be obtained in the school offices and will also be available at the meeting. Please note that there are games scheduled during the vacation the last week of February and during spring break. 4. SENIORS: Need money for college? Then come to the DHS FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP which takes place on Tuesday, January 18 at 7:00pm in the theater. We are also offering a Financial Aid Workshop for Spanish speaking families on Thursday, January 13 at 1:00pm in the large conference room. At the workshops you'll learn how to apply for federal and state financial aid for college. All seniors and their parents are invited to attend. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office (next to counseling) for more information.
