Hi everyone,
We have a boosters meeting tomorrow, Wednesday May 1 at 7:30 pm in the band room.
Please see that attached meeting minutes from the last meeting, and the below agenda for tomorrow night.
-Approval of Minutes- Band Directors report 2 Festivals
Reno Cancellation
-Sr. Concert planning-Disney Trip/End of Year Party-Victoria Planning-Open officer positions for next year
SAVE the DATES to HELP: Mr. Slabaugh sent emails today regarding band festivals and performances on May 4 and May 11. We will be needing parent and student volunteers. SignUP Genius announcements coming soon!
The April meeting included a discussion of annual band trips (see minutes for details), and it was unanimously agreed by those present that annual trips provide valuable alternative educational and performance opportunities for the students, and agreed that next May 2020 will be the Victoria Trip, which has been very well received by current and past students and families. This trip to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, is to attend a celebration of Canada's annual Victoria Day. We plan to include a music clinic (likely at either University of Washington or University of Puget Sound), and performances at the Victoria Day celebration events and around the city of Victoria. This trip will take a lot of planning, and one of the lessons learned this year was to starting planning the trips one year in advance, so that means now! Melinda Grow, one of the co-leaders for the Disney trip, has graciously agreed to co-lead the Victoria Trip...but we need another person to be a co-leader to help plan the trip. The tentative dates would be leaving after school Thursday May 14, 2020, and returning Tuesday May 19, 2020. If you are interested in being the trip co-leader, please email Melinda Grow at boom5of9 at gmail.com, and if possible attend the boosters meeting tomorrow.
We also need a Coconut Grove leader (or co-leaders) for next year. Part of the planning should happen in May, to secure Emerson for the early March 2020 date. Please let us know if you can volunteer. Even though it's only the jazz band that performs, this is a major fundraiser that benefits all the band programs. Therefore, it would be best if both a jazz band parent, and a symphonic/concert band parent, could volunteer to co-chair.
See you tomorrow!Rob and Cynthia
