Also, we have left over hot dogs from the Welcome Back BBQ.? I have 5 packages of turkey dogs that have a November 9 date, and 3 packs of veggie dogs.? I will bring them tonight, free to good home!? You can put them in your freezer and use for later!

This is very unfortunate.  We understand the importance of the students attending these events.

When you handed out the schedule, Isha, her mother and I sat down and changed plans that we had made so that she would be available on December 8th for the festival.  Unfortunately, we moved plans that we had for December 8th to December 1st.  Based on the schedule that you provided, we have purchased plane tickets to be out of town on December 1st.  I do not think we can revise those plans at this late date.

Hi all,I realized recently that for the evening of CG, I will be out of town at a previously scheduled event.? I will still be involved with marketing, ticket sales, and helping with the auction.? Carolyn, my co-chair, is doing the "party planning" (venue, food, etc).? But we need someone to run the evening: be the leader who can take care of problems that arise, whether it be with tickets, seating, food, etc.? Stephen has already volunteered to be our emcee, so that's covered.
Carolyn cannot be the leader that night, and I will not be there (neither will Rob, he'll be with me).? So we need another parent to step up and be our leader for the evening.? Ideally someone who's already going to be involved in planning the event, but even if you haven't volunteered for CG yet, we will always accept new help! Most of the planning won't really ramp up until January.??
Please let me know if you can do this.? We really need someone.? This is a really important night, it's our biggest fund raiser!?

Hello music directors! I am sending this from my home since school at Delta has been cancelled due to poor air quality the last few days. I have attached the schedule in two different formats. The one in color shows not only the performance times and location but also the warm up and clinic times and the other schedule in an easier to read format. Please note we worked very hard to get you all the times you requested so we are hoping this will all work for you! FYI, I had some issues trying to open the files from home so you might have to save them first.

The welcome letter includes rules, performance sheets, instruments provided, directions and other important information. If you can fill out your performance sheets and email me a copy that would be great. Or just email the number of total band members that you are bringing so I can get the correct number of wrist bands placed in your folders.

To make things easier than the previous years you will be signing in at the Music Lab Holt 105 and it is best to park in the  "L" (Locke) parking lots.

Remember all student band members and up to four directors/chaperones will have free entry to see The Ari Hoenig Trio. They performed last year at the college and put on an amazing show, you and your students will love it! We will have additional tickets on sale for $15 at the box office.

At the last band meeting, we had discussed a?new fundraiser?that has potential to bring in a significant amount of?money?for our kiddos! We all purchase beverages of many types and we all pay at the register for not just the liquid inside, but we also pay a CRV of typically 5 cents per container (sometimes more). Why don?t we take that money that we?otherwise throw into our recycling bins?for pick-up every week and donate it to the band!!

?

I have created a spreadsheet where families can sign up to have their recycling picked up (every Saturday at 10:00 am) and also a place where people can?sign up?to collect the donations and take to?Davis Recology Buy Back Program?located at 2727 2nd?St. in Davis. The recycling center will issue a check to each person/family per delivery (they are unable to provide checks in excess of $200 per person) which will in turn need to be cashed in and turned into Band Boosters.

Please have your clean and rinsed recyclables in a paper sack (or other reusable container) on your front porch by 10:00 am the day of pickup

A reminder email will be sent out every Friday to those who signed up to donate

Hello Band Parents

I'm writing today because as President of the Band Boosters one of my jobs is to make sure the band has sufficient funding.  A few booster parents have been working extremely hard to make sure we can raise enough money for all of the usual yearly expenses: buying new instruments, repairing instruments and equipment, purchasing music, helping to fund local and "big" trips, additional instruction, concerts, festivals, and everything else.

However, we currently have very large trip deficits and need to do something to make it up.  For the Disney trip our deficit is approximately $8400.  For New Orleans it's $7500, for a total of almost $16,000.  The band boosters typically assists with around $4000, which means we are $12,000 over budget. This is not a small amount: To give you some perspective, our yearly budget (without this additional trip cost) is around $36,000.  So we'd need to raise 33% more than usual.  This is no small task, and will require more people to help.

At booster meetings, trip meetings, and in emails, we have asked for both volunteers to start new fundraisers, and participate in current fundraisers.  While we have met our yearly goal of $10,000 from direct deposits, and are making plans for Coconut Grove, we continue to get little to no response for the other requests. For example: Less than 1/4 of the band families participated in the Tea Party fundraiser (last year over 1/2 participated and I was disappointed in that!).  Cynthia has suggested other fundraisers such as BBQ dinner, seeking business sponsors, Facebook fundraiser, to name a few.  But we get little to no response in setting them up. Currently Ashley started a fundraiser for recycling, and all you have to do is rinse your bottles and cans that have CRV and have them picked up...but again, very little sign ups so far.

 For those who are already volunteering, be it with additional financial donations, the Tea Party, Football, setting up Coconut Grove, etc, we thank you for your participation.  But these few people cannot do everything, and if we don't start getting other people to volunteer to organize and participate in fundraisers we will not be  successful this year, or possibly next.  We will need to cut further spending and dip into our financial reserves, and your kids' band program and experience will suffer.

We have a band boosters meeting next Wednesday Dec. 5 at 7:30 pm in the Band Room.  We need volunteers from all 3 bands to come up with new fundraisers and implement them. If you are in town and don't have any prior commitments, we need you to attend.

At the last band meeting, we had discussed a new fundraiser that has potential to bring in a significant amount of money for our kiddos! We all purchase beverages of many types and we all pay at the register for not just the liquid inside, but we also pay a CRV of typically 5 cents per container (sometimes more). Why don?t we take that money that we otherwise throw into our recycling bins for pick-up every week and donate it to the band!!



I have created a spreadsheet where families can sign up to have their recycling picked up (every Saturday at 10:00 am) and also a place where people can sign up to collect the donations and take to Davis Recology Buy Back Program located at 2727 2nd St. in Davis. The recycling center will issue a check to each person/family per delivery (they are unable to provide checks in excess of $200 per person) which will in turn need to be cashed in and turned into Band Boosters.
