You can find past Victoria trip emails and documents on the website at http://groups.dcn.org/ dhsbandboosters/victoria-trip-info I pasted in the message with the invitation to sign up using the google form that Doug created below. =============================================== Thanks to everyone who has signed up to drive kids to the airport. However, we still need more carpool drivers, as listed below: Group 1 departure (5/18/17) from DHS at about 1:00 to 1:15 pm - Need about 6 to 8 more drivers. Group 2 departure (5/18/17) from DHS at about 4:15 to 4:30 pm - Need about 2 to 3 more drivers. Group 1 return (5/23/17) pick up at Airport at about 10:00 pm - Need about 7 to 9 more drivers. Group 2 return (5/23/17) pick up at Airport at about 9:30 pm - Need about 1 to 2 more drivers. We are hoping to fill up the cars so as to minimize the number of drivers needed. Drivers, since you have entered your name as a driver, please work with your student to identify other students/chaperones that you can transport, and enter their names in your carpool row in the sign up sheet. On May 8th we will fill in any empty spots in the carpool vehicles and make sure that all students and chaperones have transportation. Also, please remember that we need to organize the carpools both to the airport on 5/18/17 and back from the airport on 5/23/17. Each group and each day is a separate tab on the spreadsheet. Also, if you have not submitted a DJUSD Driver Form, please do as soon as possible. A link to the form is provided below. The forms can be returned to Mr. Slabaugh. http://dshs.djusd.net/file/1368364917977/1365835248680/74903 82932957744201.pdf Please email Doug Moore (dtmoore2015 at gmail.com) with any questions. A few reminders about the quickly approaching band trip to Seattle and Victoria, BC. 1. Please submit any and all forms if you have not already done so. Passports, medical, persmisison, driver's information if shuttling to and from airport, etc. 2. Realize that your student will still need his or her actual passport on the trip, even though you submitted a copy of said passport. 3. BIG DATE TO REMEMBER: Tuesday, 5/16 from 4-7 pm we need each and every student to come to the band room with their suitcase packed per the list sent out in the trip packet recently. Certain items will be kept out for first 2 days of travel, but otherwise we will load suitcases, intstruments and personal music stands on the truck that will then drive up to Seattle. We want to avoid checking bags so PLEASE make sure your student gets their suitcase, instruement and music tand on the truck. 4. Figure out ahead of time if your phone plan allows your studnet to text and/or call while in Canada. 5. Decide how much spending money you want to send with your student and if you want to change any before the trip into Canadian dollars. 7 meals will be purchased by your student. Other expenses may include snacks, souveniers, drinks/coffes, etc. Wells Fargo bank in town is the only bank in Davis that changes money. They have limited Canadian dollars so call ahead. 6. A finalized itinerary will be sent to all parents prior to the trip. Certain details are still being worked out. 7. Last, but still very important, if you have not signed up to carpool, there are still chances to help. We need to get all 97 people going on this trip to and from the airport. Thank you everyone, it is going to be a memorable trip! Connie Belk and the 2017 Victoria Planning Crew and Chaperones -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The trip is coming up next week! 2. Packing reminder list is attached. Read it over carefully. Suitcases must be dropped off Tuesday 5/16/17 at the school band room between 4-7 pm or your student will not have a suitcase taken on the trip- we are not planning to take suitcases on the airplane. Separate backpack supplies for the first day and a half of the trip will be packed separately. Everyone will be reunited with their suitcases Friday night. 3. The weather in Victoria will be cool - 60-65 during the day and 48-50 at night. Dress appropriately. 4. Lists of which flight your student is on for Thursday, 5/18 will be posted in the band room. It is your student's responsibility to be at school at the appropriate time to leave in time with their group. 5. ** Remind your student to bring a water bottle they can refill for the trip ** 6. Have your student bring a student ID as well as passport on the trip. If possible we will collect student passports Tuesday at baggage check-in and hold for students until travel day. This is to avoid any panicked, last minute runs home for missing passports on Thursday. 7. Look into the "whats" app for your iphone as a way to save money texting with your child on the trip as well as your child's texting during the trip. Let's have a safe and fun trip!!
