We have a large number of tasks to get done and we need all hands on deck. Students ? You may earn ?You Choose? points for setting up and working this event at the rate of 10 points per hour. See Mr. Slabaugh when you arrive to check in and check out. Everyone ? The Slabaugh family account has ponied up the funds to buy the supplies to make pancakes and waffles tomorrow morning. Mr. Slabaugh himself will be cooking these delictable items and invites everyone to come and enjoy some nourishment as you transform the Emerson IDC into a lovely jazz nightclub. Bring supplemental items if you want to add things into your pancake or waffle, or want to put something special (other than syrup) on top of your breakfast delights! See you all tomorrow morning! The festival is held at the University of Nevada,. Festival schedules, maps, places to eat, etc. will all be posted here as they are made available by the festival organizers. Currently our Jazz Band and two Combos are guaranteed a slot to play and two Combos are wait-listed. We won?t know for sure whether or not all four will be playing until the schedule is published later this month. *SCHEDULE:* We will be leaving DHS on Friday April 28th at 2:45pm and heading to The Nugget Hotel. We will check in at the hotel and then proceed to UNR. The Boosters will provide Subway sandwiches for the bus ride. Dinner will be late. I will pick up turkey and ham sandwiches. Please let me know if anyone *needs* a different sandwich. Once at UNR we will be attending the Friday evening concert. You can check out who is playing at http://www.unr.edu/rjf/Concerts.html. After the concert we will proceed to The Nugget and have a late dinner at the hotel. The hotel has many dining options that can be found here . We will probably all be eating at Rosie?s Caf? unless a buffet is still open when we get there. We will be performing on Saturday and returning home in the late afternoon or early evening. *COST:* The Booster?s will be covering the cost of the bus, a room for the driver, a room for Mr. Slabaugh, and a substitute for Mr. Slabaugh, as well as the cost of the concert on Friday, entrance fees, festival fees, etc. The Cost of the room per student is $46.00 and there will be up to 4 students per room. Please make payment to DHS Band Boosters. Students should have enough money with them to purchase dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, as well as any snacks, T-shirts, etc. that they may want. Please share this information with your student by forwarding this e-mail. We would like them to have the hyperlinks provided here. *CHAPERONES:* We have room for at least a couple more chaperones. Please let me know if you are interested. It is a fun trip, our kids are fun to be around, and the more of us that are there the more fun it is. I will share more information as it becomes available. A few things to begin thinking about as we get closer to our trip in May. First, we are traveling to a foreign country so if you have not sent in a copy of your student's passport to the PO Box or Mr. Slabaugh, do so ASAP. Second, check your cell phone carrier agreement to see about the extent of your coverage in Canada. Your student may not be able to text, call, or access internet without substantial fees. Third, students will be needing to buy 7 different meals (lunches and dinners) over the course of the trip. You can budget for about $10 each. Think about whether your student will use a debit card, credit card (does yours have foreign transaction fees?) or whether you will change money to canadian dollars prior to leaving. Wells Fargo is one option for changing money. Lastly, be on the lookout for a packet of district forms to complete for the trip. And if your child will be bringing any medications on the trip, the medication form needs to be signed by your doctor. This all takes time so please plan ahead. If you have any questions, please email Connie at: conniebelkrd at gmail.com Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
