Dear California Music Educators,

CODA is extending auditions for specific instruments for the CODA Honor Orchestra to be held November 18-19, 2016 at the Mondavi Center at UC Davis.

The following instruments can submit auditions: Oboe, French Horn, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Percussion.

After many years of excellent service to the Band Boosters, Wes Young has
handed over the listserv maintenance.

With a new person, comes new risk.  Before doing the updating for this
year, I thought I'd warn you.

With luck, those not affiliated with the jazz band in 2016-17 will be
removed from the list and this year's members and parents will be
subscribed.  I will send a message after completing the task.  If there are

As of last night we still have not received Victoria forms from 25
students.  Those forms have to get into us this week.  After that we will
have no choice but to assume those students are not going on the Victoria
trip.  We really want as many band students as possible to go on the trip.
Mr. Slabaugh is arranging clinics at University of Washington.  There will
be multiple performances at the music festival, and generally the trip will
be a lot of fun.  Please get your forms in immediately.

Title: DSHS Victoria Trip 2017

Thank you to all of the families who have turned in Victoria trip paperwork
and submitted their first contribution installments. This helps us trip
planners immensely.

That being said, we still have about 15 - 20 families who are either
currently undecided or have never responded either way. Some families have
turned in paperwork but no monetary contribution.

THE DEADLINE for turning in paperwork and first contributions for this trip
is November 1st.
We truly need to work on our itinerary and cannot proceed until we know the
size of our group.

If anyone is interested in helping to plan the trip or be a chaperone,
please come to the next meeting on Thursday, November 17th at 7 pm. Email

I love breakfast.  I especially love it on Sunday mornings.  And at the
right time of the year I also love Christmas music.  If this is something
you enjoy as well, YOU ARE IN LUCK!  The DHS Bands are having breakfast at
Applebee?s on Sunday, December 4th from 8:00 to 10:00am and they will be
playing Christmas music to kick off the Christmas season.



This Jingle Bell Breakfast is a fundraiser for the bands.  (Unfortunately
the cool name didn?t dawn on any of us until after we printed the forms).
The attached Ticket Order Form was given to your student today.  We would
like to have all parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, even
the weird guy down the street come to this breakfast.  You cannot buy
tickets at the door they must be ordered ahead of time.  Please complete
the order form and return it to Mr. Slabaugh no later than Friday, November
11th.  Returning it even earlier is even better.
