[Dhsbb-jazz] Jazz Concert Tomorrow!

The annual Davis High School Jazz Invitational is this coming Thursday, April 16th at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall, beginning at 7:30pm. There is no admission charge and the concert features the award-winning Davis High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Thomas Slabaugh II, and special guests The Brubeck Institute Jazz Quartet from the University of the Pacific, directed by Patrick Langham. The concert will feature music by Chick Corea, Cedar Walton, Sonny Rollins, as well as compositions by Brubeck Institute fellow Jimmy Kraft. The Davis High School Band will end their set with a performance made famous by the jazz great Buddy Rich, in the Bill Reddie composition Channel One Suite.

At the end of the sets, the bands will combine in small combos and play a jam session on great jazz standards. This illustrates the high level of skill, artistry, and communication these students exhibit and work on every day. It is a very enjoyable end to our event.
