Hi all,

This coming Tuesday, November 18, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra will be performing at the Mondavi Center. In addition to their performance, they are offering a free clinic for all the members of the DHS Jazz Band. The clinic begins at 3:30pm and I highly encourage your attendance at this fine event, as it will be an interactive clinic (no instruments needed).

That very evening, at 8:00pm, we have free tickets for every member of the band plus one for a parent for the evening concert with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra at Jackson Hall, in the Mondavi Center. Go to the Will Call ticket window and give them, your name for the free tickets.

I am excited for this opportunity and wish I could attend, but the Symphonic Band concert this evening desires my presence.

Here is a write up about this fine group!

If New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz, then trumpeter Irvin Mayfield and the 18-piece New Orleans Jazz Orchestra are the proud standard bearers of that city’s indelible legacy. The Grammy-winning Mayfield is a consummate entertainer, leading the big band through New Orleans classics and works by Basie and Ellington. All the while, he is living out the NOJO’s Vision of enhancing every day of life with jazz, one delightful performance at a time.
