We are soon coming up on one of our most popular annual fundraising events:?Evening at Coconut Grove?on Saturday, March 9, 2013?at the Emerson Junior High MPR.??Along with dinner and fun performances by our wonderful band students, the night features a silent auction.??I urge you to consider donating for the silent auction.??Note that your donation will be tax-deductible.??Given that the school district can barely fund more than a few pages of sheet music per student, the funds raised here are critical in supporting the band programs at DSHS. ? Popular auction items in previous years have been original artwork, restaurant dinners, cabin rentals, wine country tours, golf/tennis lesson, theme gift baskets, etc.??If you have a skill, you could consider donating a few hours of teaching the skill.??This is a wonderful opportunity for musicians to introduce themselves to potential students.??If you know of a group of musicians who would be willing to donate some time playing for a private event, please urge them to donate their services.??Nothing is too large or too small for consideration!? ? You can reach me at?poornima_mk at yahoo.com poornima(underscore)mk at yahoo.com, or call me at 530-757-6382. ? I hope to hear from ALL of you?J ? I'd like to invite your clarinet students to come and observe. It will be held on stage in Jackson Hall at 4-5:30pm on Friday, March 15. Parents are welcome, and if you have any other students besides the participants, they are welcome also. Everyone must enter through the Artist Entrance at the rear of the stage, a map is attached. They'll need to pay for parking, they are giving a lot of tickets these days. There is metered parking on the 2nd floor of the parking structure, that is the cheapest way to go. -Angelo -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... This is a band that any of your students that would like more experience reading are welcome to come any time. There is no commitment necessary, and this is not a band that will be looking for gigs. Just reading. I have been fortunate enough to acquire two large working libraries from Bay-area band leaders, and will be using these charts as the basis for this project. The level of difficulty will be easy-moderate to moderate hard (I guess), and the goal is just to read some charts, build skill and chops, and have a good time. We have a nice collection of music students, seasoned community members, and working musicians along with a few high school students, and we would like to encourage many more to come! We can always double up on parts if need be. Back-line, grand piano, and drums (-cymbals) are there, so just bring your axe. Reeds have occasional doubles, so a good chance to improve (or learn) doubles. See flier for more info, or write or call with your questions. I think this is an opportunity to develop any of your students who has interest. Thanks!
