[Dhsbb-jazz] Reminder: Two final band events for 2012-13

The band program at DHS & Da Vinci is one in a million.  Please come out to show your support and appreciation and to enjoy the last two events of this school year.  Let your students know how proud you are of their musical achievements and let Mr. Quick and Mr. Lange know how much you  appreciate their hard work and skillful instruction this past year.  Both events are free admission and open to the public so invite your friends and neighbors. If you wish to donate to support the band program or the music lesson scholarship fund in honor of Fred Lange, please look for the donation containers in the lobby.

(1)  Picnic and Pops -  The combined band (Symphonic, Concert, Jazz) will perform at Picnic in the Park (Farmer's Market) at Central Park from 6-7 pm on Wednesday May 30, (followed by the UCD Aggie Band-Uh! from 7-8 pm). Enjoy a  picnic dinner, buy some fresh produce and enjoy an evening of great music. The band will perform many of the selections that were performed on their recent San Diego trip, as well as some other numbers. Mr. Lange and Mr. Quick will conduct.

(2) Jazz on a Summer's Eve XXII - Don't miss this concert! The one and only DHS Jazz Band will perform at Brunelle Performance Hall (a.k.a. IPAB) at 7:30 pm on Friday June 1.  The best jazz around and no admission charge....please plan to attend even if your child is not in the jazz band to show your support and thank Mr Lange. This special evening will include the premier performance of a new composition commissioned by band boosters to honor Mr. Lange upon his retirement. The composer, Eric Richards of University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will attend the premier and perform with the band. The commission was supported in part by the Davis School Arts Foundation. It should be a wonderful evening of great jazz.
