And a Bigger THANK YOU to Jeanette for all the time she spent organizing this event, pulling all the pieces together to make such a fun event. The only thing that I can think of which she missed, was she didn't clean out the drains on the Emerson roof, which caused it to become an exciting water event as well.
Great Job Jeanette!!
Thx, ~JAH

Subject: [Dhsbb-jazz] Thank you to everyone who volunteered time, talents, food and materials to Play-a-thon 2012
Dear Band parents and students,
I wanted to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed to put together Play-a-thon 2012. In spite of the weather, and the adventures and challenges it created (see the report in the upcoming newsletter), it was a successful evening. Special thanks go to Lynne Rumery (food/beverage coordinator), Luci Schmidl (check-in coordinator), John and Katie Horn (who helped with everything else), and chaperones (John Horn, Lyle Najita, John Weir, Tracy Skinner and Cindy True) who gave up big chunks of their evening and in some cases all night! Many other parents helped with set-up, check-in, tending the dessert table, pizza pick-up, clean-up, and donation/loans of food, beverages, and materials for the evening. What a great bunch of parents! Special thanks also to student Eli Smith, who did a superb job coordinating the dance music for breaks. And what a great group of band students!...They were cooperative, energetic, showed great imagination and creativity for the costume cont
est, and superb musicianship and respect for the guest conductors, even in the wee hours of the morning. Our efforts were supported by pizza contributions from local restaurants, including Round Table, Pizza Guys, Caffe Italia, Lamppost, Steve's Place and Woodstocks. Please patronize them and thank them for their support in these challenging economic times.
There were a few items left at the end of the event, without identifying names.....a list follows. They will be brought to the band room Tuesday and placed in a Playathon box for pick-up. If you prefer to make other arrangements to get them, please contact Jeanette ( jenatzle at ucdavis.edu, or 530-219-0841).
Package of Ray-o-Vac hearing aid batteries (these were in the bottom of a paper bag which also contained a bag of chips
Black folding umbrella - Eddie Bauer
Navy blue hooded sweatshirt, XLg, "simply for sports", zipper front, two front pockets
White ceramic plate with a red and a green stripe around the edge, was used to bring mocha frosted brownies
