Message-ID: <9f0a.46657ba5.39383167@aol.com> Hello all, With the Disney trip barely behind us, it's hard to believe that things are already in the works for next year's band trip! Next year is especially exciting as we prepare for our trip to Victoria Canada in the spring. While the trip is still in the early planning stages, it would be likely around the May 20 - May 25, 2011 time frame to coincide with British Columbia's Victoria Day celebration. All persons traveling to Canada must have a valid passport, so we are sending this notice now in hopes that you will be able to start this process over the summer. If your child does not yet have a passport, or has a passport that will need to be renewed before JULY 2011, they will need to acquire a new or updated passport. It can take quite awhile to actually complete this process, and it will be needed to secure airline reservations in the fall. One of the many purposes of the Davis High School Band Boosters is to ensure that every band student who wishes to attend this trip will be able to do so, and we sincerely hope that every student will participate. We look forward to another year of fabulous concerts, enriching activities and just plain fun - and hope to see you at our Band Booster meetings too (on Wed. evenings). Don't forget our last booster meeting of the year is TONIGHT at 7:30 p.m. in the band room! Hoping you have a wonderful summer~ Katie Horn Trip Coordinator Davis High Band Boosters -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It's time for the end of year BBQ. The BBQ is next Monday, June 14 from 6-9 p.m. We are working with the City to confirm that the central park tables and BBQ area are reserved for this event. We need a head count by Thursday, June 10. We are asking for a donation of $5 for individuals, $10 per family to cover the cost of the BBQ items. We also will ask those coming to bring side dishes. Please e-mail me by Thursday and let me know the number of people attending. I will then send out another e-mail with final details. It includes pdf documents of songs for the students to print out and learn and sound files of these songs. This packet is available to download from my computer at DHS. Students should come to the bandroom at DHS with a flash drive (at least 150 MB) or blank writable CD. I will be at school today (from 10:30-1:00), Thursday from 10:30-1:00 and again on Monday from 9:30-11:00. I will also bring my laptop to the band Bar-B-Q. Please let me know if you have any difficulty getting to one of these sessions. P.S. Students in the current Jazz or Symphonic bands have already downloaded these materials. Message-ID: Hello everyone! I hope you?re all having a great summer (spending all your time practicing pep band music, of course). The Fourth of July is zooming towards us on the calendar, and we all know what that means. I hope most of you will be in town on the 4th, because if you are, you should definitely join us by the Carousel in Central Park at 8:30 am on the Fourth to participate in the parade. The theme will be red, white, and blue (anything in those colors will do ? personally, I?m thinking penguins and stairs), but if you don?t have time to dress up, the most important thing is just showing up. The more people the better, and if you know any alumni that might want to join us, feel free to invite them. Be there or be square! ?Duncan Sommer P.S. ? If I find out later that you were in town and didn?t come?you will feel the full fowl wrath of Future Flamingo! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The parade organizer has informed me that instead of showing up at 8:30, we don't need to be there until 9:30. You should get some extra sleep from this change, and I hope to see tons of people there this Sunday. Repeat: Carousel in Central Park at 9:30 am on the Fourth - Sunday Actually, it would be great if you are coming (and you ARE COMING) for you to give me a call or email letting me know who to expect!
