Details below. ~JAH [%20] Davis Youth Flute Choir Summer Concert- Thursday, July 15 7:30PM at the DHS Brunelle Theater We left one announcement out of our July e-newsletter and wanted to make sure that it didn't get missed. The Davis Youth Flute Choir, under the direction of local flute instructor Maquette Kuper will be performing alongside members of the Davis High School Jazz Band on Thursday, July 15. This show will be helping the group prepare and raise funds for their upcoming trip to perform at the National Flute Association Convention in Anaheim in August. They are the only youth flute choir invited to perform this year. The Davis Youth Flute Choir toured Japan in June of 2008, and performed several concerts in Davis' Japanese sister city, Inuyama. The choir performs with piccolo, flute, alto flute and bass flute, creating a unique and captivating sound. The July 15th concert will feature both classical and jazz selections, and the jazz pieces will feature a combo from the Davis High School Jazz Band, including Neil Heaton, piano; Colin McDaniel (recently highlighted in the Davis Enterprise), drums; and Andy McCauley, bass. The choir will also premiere a new work by Lawrence Frank. Advance tickets are available at the Davis Art Center ($8.00 General / $5.00 Student & Senior) All tickets will be available for $10.00 at the door. The Band Booster officers are already at work on things that are going to be happening the next year. One event that is coming up is the Natsoulas Jazz Festival on October 9th. This is the 1st fundraiser that everyone can participate in and the Jazz Band and combos will be playing in as well. I am looking to see if there are any parents that are willing to help organize the activities that we are involved in for that day. It would involve our band raffle (both pre-sales and sales during the event, organizing the helpers to got out and get raffle prizes, possible wine sales, & things associated with these items. If you have a some time and are willing to help out, please let me know. Thanks much, ~JAH John Horn DHS Band Booster Pres. FYI: I will be offline from this Sunday 7/25 - 7/30 at Boy Scout Camp, so I won't be able to respond during that time. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
