Dear Band Booster families and alumni, 

A couple of notes for upcoming scrip orders....

I will not be at the band booster meeting on April 6, but you can still give forms and
money to 
my husband, Rhio Barnhart at the beginning of the meeting.  

There are several new choices this month.   Tower Records is now available in
denominations of 
$25 at a 7% discount.   Gottschalk's has once again joined the scrip program and is
available in 
$25 and $100 denominations at an 8% discount.  Note that  Gottschalk's gift cards may also
be 
used to pay charge account balances as long as charge payments are made in the store.  
And 
finally, Long's Drugs is now available in denominations of $100 in addition to the usual
$25 
amount; both values earn a 5% discount.   As always, if you would like to see a complete

  Mr. Lange asked if there were any parents available after school this week on Mon, Tues, and Thurs (Apr 3, 4, and 6) to help supervise the Band Room, where students will be signing up for time slots and warming up prior to their auditions in the IPAB Theater.  
  Parent supervisors would be very much appreciated on 
  Mon, Apr 3 from 3:30-5:30pm; 
  Tues, Apr 4 from 3:30-5:30pm, and 
   Thurs, Apr 6 from 2:30-4:30 pm.
   
  Even if you can only be there for part of a session, it would really help.

On Wednesday March 15, there was a band performance/adjudication.
My husband attended with our two small children and brought some
children's library books to keep them busy.  Well, he accidentially
forgot to pick one of the books up and it was left behind.  I have
asked the high school library, the custodian, parents, teachers and
Greg Wershing, but the book has not been found.  The book belongs to
the Yolo public library and if you found it, we would greatly
appreciate it if you could return it to the library OR give me a
call and I will pick it up.

ATTENTION ALL PICNIC DAY PARTICIPANTS!
    Picnic Day is this Saturday, April 22.  The  parade begins at 
approximately 10 a.m., but we need to meet at 8:00 a.m.   We will meet in UC Davis Lot 41

will not be  open that morning.  Also, we will be dressing in some semblance of a 
 uniform.  Please wear a blue shirt (I don't care what kind of pants)  and a 
crazy hat.  Comfortable shoes are recommended as well, as the parade  is not 
short.
    But wait!  There's more!  I know it's  been a long time since we all 
played together, so I'm taking the opportunity of  scheduling a practice.  We will 
be playing at the boys lacrosse game on  this Friday, April 21 at Playfields 
Park in South Davis.  This is not  mandatory, but I do recommend attending.  
The game starts at 7 p.m., and we  will meet at 6:30 p.m.  There is no theme, 
so come as you are.  Also,  those not attending the parade are welcome to come 
to the game.

Hi Jazz Band families-
   
  Well, it's time for the Monterey Jazz festival.  The band and combo have been working very hard, and are sounding wonderfully!
  There is a rehearsal for the Big Band on Wed., 4/19 from 8:00- 9:30 pm.
   
  I went to Jazz Band class yesterday, and had students sign up for their carpools and gave them an Info sheet for the trip.
   
  I will attach the Student Info sheet and the DHS Jazz Band cell phone list to this letter. Please be sure that students and parents read the Info Sheet.  Thanks.
   
  The students, chaperones, and director will be staying at the
  Monterey Marriott   350 Calle Principal, Monterey   (831) 649-4234
   
  The festival performances and clinics will be in the Portola Plaza hotel, which is attached to the Marriott by a courtyard.  The big band performance venue is right across from the concierge desk of the Portola Plaza hotel.  Ask at this desk for info on the location of the Combos performance venue.
   
  DHS performance times are:
  Combo 1 @ 11:30 am
  Big Band @ 3 pm
  Call back performances for the top 3 big bands will be after dinner on Saturday evening (starting around 7 pm.)  There are no call backs for the combos.

  Attached, please find an informational cover letter, trip agenda, and cell phone list.
   
  Band Boosters purchased festival passes for all the students.  These will admit them to all the competition performances, clinics, master classes, and the Friday and Saturday night concerts.  
  I purchased 30 festival passes for chaperones/parents at a cost of $20 each.  After saving one pass for each chaperone riding on the train with the group (and 2 for the Langes), I will have 11 passes left for sale ($20).  These full festival passes will cost $25 at the door.  Single day passes ($7) and single evening concert tickets ($24/ Friday and $12/Saturday) are also available at the door for audience members.
   
  If you are interested in purchasing a festival pass for $20, contact me @ 758-7671.
   
  I will be calling those who volunteered to drive the large instruments up to Reno on Friday.  These volunteers will need to pick up the trombones and basses at the Matlock's home (1515 Radcliffe) on Wed evening, Apr 26 because the students and chaperones are leaving Thursday morning.

Hi everyone-
   
  Just a reminder that students and chaperones report to the Davis Amtrak station at 9:30 am tommorrow, Thursday, Apr 27.
   
  If you need a ride to the station, meet Mr Peter Matlock at the IPAB lobby 
  between 8:00 and 9:00 am, and he will get you into a carpool to the station. 
  Please call Mr Matlock tonight (792-7122) if you will be meeting him at the IPAB in the morning. 
   
  Trombone and Tenor Sax players:  Please bring your instruments to Matlocks' house this evening (Wed.) by 7:30 pm.  Their address is 1115 Radcliffe Drive.
  Parents who will be driving to Reno on Friday will put your instruments into their cars this evening for the trip and bring them to you on Friday.
   
  Trumpets and alto saxes will be brought on the train as carry-on luggage.  You can also bring a small backpack with snacks, books, walkman/iPod, etc onto the train with you.  You can put your duffle bags or suitcases in the luggage compartment of the train.
   
  Remember to pack your Jazz Band uniforms.  Bring comfortable walking shoes.
  Bring money for 7 meals.  
  See you tommorrow morning at the station at 9:30 am.
