Doreen,
    I am able to drive on Saturday.  At the present moment, I am uncertain 
if I can take 4 or 6 students in addition to myself (NOT counting Chris).  I 
will e-mail you in the morning which it is.

PS  I picked up a pink form at school.  I hesitate to mail it to you at this 
late date.  Where should I leave it/take it?

  Thanks so much for volunteering to drive on Saturday.
  Could you drop the completed form with a copy of your current insurance card off at my house (918 Colby Drive) on Wed. or Thurs.?  Or give it to me at the Band Booster meeting on Thurs evening?
  I am leaving tommorrow morning for Seattle and will return Thurs afternoon.  I was planning to bring all the Jazz Band drivers' forms in to the DHS office on Friday.  I think it's best to keep them grouped together rather than having you drop yours off separately at the office.

On Thursday, December 15th the DHS Concert and Symphonic Bands will
present
a concert entitled Winter Rhapsody.  This will be the first concert of
the
year for the Concert band, under the joint direction of Fred Lange and
Bill
Zinn.  This band will be playing a variety of festive musical numbers
including West Highlands Sojurn and Prelude to Greensleeves.  The
Symphonic
Band will play other seasonal favorites, including an inspiring piece by
Frank Bencriscutto called Concertino for Clarinet and Band.  Mr Lange is
very pleased to be able to feature a very special Senior student as the
clarinet soloist, Kristy Zhang.  Finally, the bands will combine
onstage,
150 strong, to present A Christmas Flourish by James Curnow, and
Rhapsody
for Hanukkah by Stephen Bulla.  What a wonderful way to start the
holiday
season by celebrating with such fine music.  The concert will begin at
7:30
PM in the IPAB Theatre.  Tickets will be available only at the door, and
the
suggested donation is $6 students, $7 regular admission, and $14 for

Doreen,
    I had Chris drop off the completed form tonight (Tuesday) with my 
insurance card.  It looks as though Bill will not be going, but my other son 
might, meaning we could transport 4 students in addition to Chris.  Hope 
that is clear.
    I have a conflict Thursday night but Bill might come to the Band Booster 
meeting.

Dear Musical Families,

This coming Thursday, December 15th, the DHS Advanced Treble Choir's Pasta
Dinner and Auction will take place from 5:30-8 PM in the DHS Multipurpose
Room.  That same night, the Concert and Symphonic Bands will perform in the
IPAB Theatre at 7:30 PM.  

There are still a few tickets available to this tasty dinner, which will be
catered by the Yolo Catering Company, featuring a menu of Penne Pasta with
Creamy Pesto, Spaghetti with Marinara, and Salad.  Admission to the dinner
and auction is $15 general, $7 students, and children under 5 are free.
(The choir is earning money to attend a music festival in Wales this coming
July!)

If you would like to attend, please call Kirsten Larsen to reserve a ticket
@ 902-3948.

 COCONUT GROVE TAKES ON A MARDI GRAS TWIST  - February 25th 2006, 5 -9 pm at the DHS MPR

This year's Coconut Grove will have a Mardi Gras flavor. We will host a family friendly event with Cajun style food. The evening's fun will include a raffle, silent and live action. The event will feature jazz music by the DHS Jazz band and other local jazz bands. The event raises money for the entire band program and is the biggest fundraiser of the year. We still need lots of help to make this event a sucess. Sign up to help in the lobby at the Winter Concert on Thursday (15th Dec) or email you job preference to one of the organizers below.

We need volunteers for:

Main Dish :  6 people needed. Time commitment 2-4 hours. Help organize main dish  from caterer. Supervise student workers at event.

Dessert makers: 40 people needed.  Time commitment of 2 hours or less. Buy or make a dessert to serve 12+ people. 

Phone Tree:15 people needed. Time commitment of 1-2 hours. Be responsible for calling 10 people to coordinate donations, sponsors etc.

General volunteers: 10 people needed. Time commitment 2-4 hours. Help with set up, clean up or other jobs as needed.

Sponsors: This year we are requesting all our band families help support the band program by either donating two items for the auction or becoming  a family or business sponor for the event. Suggested donations for a family sponsor are $50, $100, $250, while business sponsors can donate $100, $250, $500 or $1000. All donations are tax deductible and the sponsors names will be listed on the program if desired. Any sponsor of $250 or more can also have their name posted on a table centerpiece if they like.

Reservations: Make your reservations early. By January 31, Adults $15, Students $12,   By  February 17th, Adults $20, Students $16, After February 18th, Adults $25, Students $20.  Tickets for Performers $5,  Under 5 free.
