I want to follow up on Cynthia's note and encourage everyone who shops at Nugget Market to get and use a scrip card.  I was really surprised to see that up to 4% of all purchases that are credited to a scrip card would go to the DHS Band!  This means that for a family of four people that spends $5/day per person on food and household supplies, $24 of the $600 in monthly purchases at Nugget would go to the DHS Band!  That is about $300 per year!  If there are 33 band families who regularly shop at Nugget, or one-third of the total band families, that would be $10,000 per year out of money that we are spending anyway!

Nugget is really generous for contributing 4% of their revenues from purchases credited to the scrip card.  All we have to do is to to help them help DHS by getting and using a scrip card.  For band families who regularly shop at Nugget Market, this is a great way to contribute to the DHS Band program, but it takes a number of us to make this a high impact program for the Band.  So, if you have a Nugget scrip card already, don't forget to use it!  I have to admit I sometimes forget to use it even though it is in my wallet right next to my debit card!

If you are a regular Nugget Market customer and don't have a scrip card, please get in touch with Cynthia, who will have one sent to you.

Cynthia:  Thank you for the note reminding us all of these "free" ways to support the DHS Band.  Can you let me know how many new scrip cards you distribute by the end of November?  I will make a Direct Donation of $25 per card distributed to DHS Band families.  This is intended to be a "matching contribution" for one month's use of the scrip card at Nugget.  If 40 families request a scrip card, I will make a direct donation of $1,000 to the DHS Band.

3. If you’re NOT doing the tea party but still have the packet, please turn it back into Mr S this week. We can save the unused envelopes.

4. If you ARE doing the tea party, please turn into Mr S by Tuesday.
