Brett Lee will be the PBE speaker on May 15 for lunch at Lamppost Pizza, 
but I forgot to tell you about the fundraiser on this Saturday at the 
Varsity Theater.  It is a free event, but donations will be greatly 
appreciated.

The Davis Rotary will be Showing the 2024 Academy Award winning 
documentary: “20 Days in Mariupol”

Please be warned this documentary is chillingly graphic with horrific 
images and sound.  I could only watch up to day 5.  We all know how it 
ends, so it can only get worse as the days count down, so be prepared 
and I strongly do not recommend this for children.

More on Wednesday's meeting on the 15th

On Wednesday, May 15, the Davis Progressive Business Exchange will meet 
from noon until 1PM.   The first speaker will be Former Davis Mayor 
Brett Lee.  He will talk about his latest visit to Ukraine in February 
2024.  Brett is raising money for 3 charities in Ukraine.  The foremost 
one, supported by The Rotary Club of Davis, Davis Sunrise Rotary Club 
and Davis Sunset Rotary Club, assists university students at Pavlo 
Tychyna University in Uman, Ukraine who have had a parent killed, 
injured or have been displaced by the war.  Uman has been the 
Sister-City of Davis since 1991.  Last year, the charity program was 
funding or paying for 31 full time students going to the university.  
Brett will update the group on his current efforts on this charity.  The 
second program is to buy playground equipment for children in Ukraine 
and he will update us on those efforts.  The third and last program is a 
spay, neuter and vaccination program for feral dogs in Ukraine.  This 
program is very important for abating the spread of rabies into Western 
Europe, as numbers of infected animals have increased in Poland and 
Romania because of the abandoned cats and dogs as people fled Ukraine.

the public health danger to the region.
