A) For those who missed yesterday at the Saturday Farmers' Market the sing-along in memory of Pete Seeger led by childrens' choir director Claudia Krich--- there is coming up another tribute to Pete Seeger,who this year passed way, with many musicians from Davis, including Country Joe and the Fish.
It will be on March 5, at the Oddfellows Hall on Second Street, downtown Davis. Save the date. For further details, contact Bob Bockwinkel.
B)On March 7, Friday, at UCDavis' Wright Hall, there will be an all-day symposium to explore John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" and the social, cultural, and historical issues it raises for us in our time. Admission is free, 1030am-545pm. Participating UCD scholars include Sasha Abramsky, author of one of the NYTimes 100 Most Notable Books of 2013,"The American Way of Poverty: How the Other Half Still Lives." C)On March 7, NBC-TV will start broadcasting the Para-Olympics from Soshi, Russia. 50 hours of coverage. Persons with disabilities will compete. One of the special persons is a female swimmer for the USA, Jessica Tatiana Long,21, who was adopted as toddler from Russia, and raised within a loving family here, and has recently met her biological family in Irkutsk.
D) On April 5, the Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network will host its annual fundraising dinner at the Davis Community Church for the benefit of DREAM students at UC Davis.
E) The Davis Homeless Shelter, 1111 H Street, of Davis Community Meals, is grateful for donations of household supplies, toiletries, shampoos,sun lotions, laundry detergents, hats, belts, blankets.
