Subject: Contempt for Rove
Dear John,
Karl Rove is still ignoring a congressional subpoena. Congress has the
courts, the American people and the law on its side. Tell them to vote to
hold him in contempt today.

The conventions are over, and Congress is back to work.
They're only scheduled to be in session for a few weeks, but there's one
important piece of business that must be handled before they adjourn for the
year.
Tell Congress: Vote to hold Karl Rove in contempt!

For months, Rove has been ignoring a congressional subpoena ordering him to
testify, arguing that he has "absolute immunity." But a federal judge
recently ruled that that assertion is "entirely unsupported by existing case
law."*
"In fact, there is Supreme Court authority that is all but conclusive on
this question and that powerfully suggests that [White House] advisors do
not enjoy absolute immunity," the judge wrote.
The House Judiciary Committee has already voted a contempt citation against
Rove. It's time for the full House to do the same.
Congress has a right and a responsibility to investigate the political
tampering that occurred at the Justice Department. But they can't get to the
bottom of it without testimony from key players like Rove.
It's time to force Karl Rove to face the music.
Tell Congress to vote immediately to hold Rove in contempt.

There's no time to lose. Please send a strong message to your
Representative today.
Sincerely,
Arn Pearson,
and the rest of the team at Common Cause
