[Davis Democrats] Joyce Wilson, Celebration of Life

Dear Fellow Democrats and Members of the Davis Democratic Club
A Celebration of the Life of Joyce Wilson will be held from one to
three o: clock, Saturday June 2, 2007 at the Unitarian
Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road, Davis .
Refreshments will be served. Remembrances, short comments and
photographs suitable for inclusion in a scrapbook or a poster are
welcome. Donations to a scholarship or to a favorite charity of
hers will be announced at a later time.
Joyce was born in 1931 in Michigan; she was educated in Michigan
and California and spent much of her adult life in Davis. She
majored in Home Economics and Child Development, worked as a
recipe developer for the Carnation Company in Los Angeles, she
served on the Board of the Davis Democratic Club, setting up
programs to walking precincts for many years, helped as a
volunteer for the University, the Unitarian Universalist Church of
Davis, and the community. Recently, she was an Associate Editor
of a scientific journal, the Bulletin of Environmental
Contamination and Toxicology.
Joyce died suddenly March 2, 2007. She is survived by her husband,
Barry Wilson, a professor at UC Davis, and her son, Sean Wilson,
a graduate of UC Davis and a professor at the University of
Mississippi in Oxford and two brothers who live in Michigan.

Scheduled to speak so far are, Robin Souza for Stephen Souza about
Joyce's service to the Davis Democratic Club. Joyce served as
Recording/Corresponding Secretary and Vice President with Stephen
Souza for the 4 years he was President. Joyce served many more years
as Secretary and as a Board Member. Mayor Sue Greenwald will
speak about Joyce's service to the City of Davis on the Open Space
Commission. If others are willing to share remembrances of Joyce,
