Dear john, 

Here's what I said to the members of the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal
Election Reform <http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?ID=M68363126706939213796965>
at their first meeting on Monday: "Voting is the one tangible link that most
Americans have with their government. They may never speak to an elected
representative or visit our nation's capital. Yet, in November, they invoke
a solemn agreement between the people and their government. It is crucial
that the singular act of voting be worthy of the people's trust."

This is why, for the sake of our democracy, we cannot forget what happened
last November.  I want to share with you today a short documentary film

produced by two award-winning documentary filmmakers from Los Angeles, Erin
and Conrad Stanley. They used actual footage from Election Day 2004 to
create a two-minute video clip to help us keep the story fresh in our minds:
